if u dont know how a VL works, then you have no business getting a cocker. Im not being mean or n e thing, but u really shouldnt. Keep that gun for another 4-5 months, learn it inside and out, learn how it fires, and then get a cocker.

I figured all the parts in it and how it shoots actually and read all about the cocker so...

well...a cocker is a big step from a blowback..i assume thats wut ur VL is. i knew my spyder....way bak...inside out. knew how id worked and stuff. but when i got my cocker..i was overwhelmed because of the different procedure of how it shoots. urs is a open bolt blowback marker, while an autococker is a closed bolt. the timing realy took me a couple weeks before i got it. if u want tho, this site mite help u get started on learnin about cockers

Are you trying to learn the parts inside your marker, or a cocker? If its your marker can you post a picture on what it looks like? If so then I can tell you all the parts inside it and show you were they are.

You should oil all the o-rings on your gun, and make sure that you have some oil on the bolt because they can get scratched.

Find schematics to your gun on the site then print it out and take your gun apart worked for me

this is all you need.

also, go to "diagram" on the left column, click on different parts of the gun, it will break it up into different parts, telling you what each part is, what it does.

Don't let the "confusing mechanics" of a 'Cocker keep you away. The are countless websites that can help you learn the ins and outs of cocker maintenance and timing. It took me a few months of "passive" research to understand the marker and now I could probably suction time it blindfolded (slight exaggeration, lol).
Here's a few helpful sites:
http://www.air-powered.com
http://www.wildlion.edikos.com/ACTD.html
http://www.paintballravi.com/Articles/AutocockerInfosheet/ACTroub.html
http://www.moodypaintball.com/vantrepes/pages/timing.htm
http://thecog.bizland.com/timing.html
As far a maintenance: Generally, I just put a few drops in the ASA and fire about 20-30x (sans barrel). I also put a drop or so in the 3-way, ram, and trigger components. I also keep the bolt lubed to prevent unnecessary friction. Periodic tear-down/cleaning of the internals every few months. It may be overkill, but it keeps it working well.
Timing it takes a bit longer the first few times, but it is REALLY not that difficult to understand. Trust me, I'm not mechanically inclined and I figured it out.
That said, I just picked up a Minimag and it will probably end up replacing my 'Cocker as my primary marker. Take it for what it is.... (psst.... check out mags before you make your final decision.)
Good luck,
