i am going to get a new designz equalizer bolt..

i need to lower my dwell now it says, how much do i need to lower it and what are the procedures i need to go about completing this task.

<check stuff in sig if needed>

thanks a lot guys...

go to chrono then adjust to desired velocity

most impulses with tapeworms and stock valves work best with around 170-185 psi

so I would set the pressure at about 180, then adjust your velocity with the dwell to get the speed around 275 or so. after that, make any minor adjustments with the reg

What pressure do you suggest a rat be run at? i havnt set the dwell yet, but a couple days ago i had it shooting 265 fps at about 125 psi.....

is that ok to do, keeping your dwell high and your operating pressure low, or no?

I dunno, thats why im askin Dr J.....;)

that would be perfectly fine except that your gas efficiency will suck

the best is to find a balance between dwell and pressure to get the most shots/tank. I dont own an impulse but according to Dr J this pressure is ~180 so start there adn fiddle with it to see what works best

with lpr = 200

without lpr = 180

those are the pressures you should be running;) then adjust your dwell/lpr accordingly

heyheyhey has it right

general speaking, thehigher your pressure is, the lower your dwell will need to be, the more efficient your impy will be. Unfortunately this leaves you a couple of negative effects.
1. high speed internals create more recoil/kick
2. high speed internals can be a little tougher on paint
3. can possibly create normal wear and tear faster than normal

A good balance of efficiencey and lowered negative effects is around 170-185

with an lpr, you can still have the high efficiencey of 200 psi, but don't have the problems of high speed internals because your lpr drops the solenoid/ram pressure down.

Some Impulses will need a pressure lower than 170 because there dwell won't go low enough or because they have heavier internals or just because they have the midas touch.

Sorry to sound a little lame, but what EXACTLY would you have on an 03 rat? I know this is rather stupid but, do they have LPRs?

no, lprs would be 1 of the numorous cocker lprs mounted on either the front cap or va, then with cocker hose going to where the tapeworm normally is.;)

Stock Rats don't have LPRs, and set your psi to around 180, and use your dwell to achieve desired velocity.

well sIc had his rat at like 130psi and it was shooting aobut 260 fps. so if ur tellnig him to turn his pressure to 180 then he'll be shooting like 350.

Dr J

so once his pressure is at 175-180, adjust your dwell down so that you chrono at a decent speed. Then make any minor adjustments with the maxflow

03 rats don't come with LPR as a standard, they come with the VFF as a standard

well hte problem is , his dwell was all hte way down so it could only go up

Dr J

if your dwell is all the way down, then drop your pressure accordingly

or by a cricket board

send me a pic of the dwell, and all i use is allen wrenches?
