ok... i got my spyder se yesterday, hooked it up, and it was shootin sweet. i got through like 250 paintballs rather easily (even though they were BE balls i didnt have one break) and then all of a sudden it starts screwin up... its like it went into full auto but it only does one cycle of it and then the bolt never comes back. so basically its like it goes on full auto every time i fire till the bolt reaches the end of its travel. then i have to recock... this seems cool and all that id be able to fire that fast but it chops balls really bad and what little balls reach the end of the barrel go about 5 feet. not a good thing.

i tried refilling the co2 tank and replacing the o ring on the tank but that didnt help. what do you think the problem is and how can i fix it?

bangandow, Ill tell you bout my expeirince nad maybe this will help.
1) go to Kingman home page,(there is a link to it from any Kingman gun review on this most excellent site)
2) look for tech tips and read all through the trouble shooting question/answer section. The site has an excellent tech area that covers just about any problem including full parts/drawings.
3)The two guns I have, both Spyder SE's from friends did about the same thing as you descibe. They both shot fine till one day they would fire a burst then not recock at all.The CO2 tanks were full so I changed bolt and striker O-rings. Still same problem.Read all through Kingman tech tips and called them. They have excellent customer support when you need it.
4) Decided to change sear spring( which get old and worn out and would account for bolt not recocking)and striker O-ring. Kingman says to use only thier brand striker O-ring. I had changed that one with one I bought at ACE hardware.(air leaking past striker would prevent bolt from recocking also)
5)Ordered these parts from Kingman. Put them in both guns, both fire fine now.

Clean it. Check all your O-Rings for tiny cracks.

your Co2 tank might be low.

i have refilled my co2 tank and the same thing happened and ive stripped down the gun and checked all the orings and ended up needing to replace the one between the se's x-chamber foregrip thing and the gun, but that didnt help the problem. im gonna get a new sear spring on tuesday, im almost positive thats the problem. thanks for your help and add any more suggestions you can think of =)

was it cold because when I play in the cold with my gun it does the same thing, when this starts to happen taake your c02 out because it wastes a lot of co2 and it chops a lot of balls

i just got my new spring today, havent put it in yet, but if this doesnt work i dunno what im gonna do... also, the o-ring between the x-chamber and where it hooks into the gun was massively screwed up, but when i replaced it, the gun still didnt work... is it just a coincidence that the oring happened to fail too or is this a clue to what is ailing my gun? thanks for all your help, i hope to have the new spring installed tomorrow... =)

maybe u gave a leak coming form ur cupseal that iu cant hear, or fomr ur line, and u cant get enough presere to shoot right. Take saopy water, or windex, and spray it on all ur fittings, amke sure theye not leaking, if the water bubbles, uve got a leak. try replacing the cuo seal though, that coudl be ur problem

I think you've covered everything I have dealt with. I had a very small paintball chip under the striker O-ring that caused problems for me once. Same problem as you describe. Mine pulls this trick about every other time I play and usually is dirty. Good luck!

hmm i replaced the sear spring, striker o-ring, cleaned out the inside of the gun to make sure theres no paint chips, tried out my brothers tank (which was full and definitely not cold) and still, that damn sputtering... =(

i have no frickin idea whats going on... i figured maybe it was something in the bottomline so i took that off and screwed the tank directly into the gun... still no, with my luck it would never be that easy to fix =(

ive covered everything youve mentioned and everythign on the kingman site... still no luck... should i send the gun to kingman to get it fixed or what?

I had a problem like this that just plain drove me nuts. I finally decided "to heck with it" and brought it to an airsmith. He took the gripframe off, and showed me a little brass screw underneath the gun. What this screw does is hold the valve in place. It was real loose, and the valve could actually get knocked around. Since the valve moved when it was hit by the striker, it didnt open properly, and the gun didnt fire fast, or recock, look to see if that's your problem. If not, try bringing the gun to an airsmith, I find that they can fix most things, especially on a Spyder

Bangandow,
You’re story interests me because my first semi was a used Spyder Sonix (Compact 2000 w’bottomline marketed through Wally Werld.) My mechanics kid had a bad habit of shooting cats & small children with it. I got it for $50. Now the dad was a mechanic but the kid wasn’t. The brass valve retainer was missing; the sight rail screw was completely stripped out. The o-rings had been swapped all over. Behind the main spring were five washers that made it shoot hot hot hot! I’m guessing about 500 fps because it split the bark on a cherry tree in my yard I target occasionally. (Poor cats & small children!) Anyway I referenced a lot of stuff on the net, had 3 or 4 games where I was ready to toss it in the trash, and finally got it right. It’s currently my wife’s gun because its a lot lighter than my T-98 and she’s a wiener when it comes to an extra 3-4 pounds. I can fix anything on it and know exactly what it needs at any given time. The long-term reward of totally knowing your gun and being able to fix anything on it is worth your current frustration. By the way, if my mechanics kid takes over his dads business I will go elsewhere!
