I am having trouble deciding on what to get..

I looked at all the mediocre priced markers and narrowed it down to an impulse. it's gonna cost me 520 for an impulst+vision (still not sure if the vision is worth 150!). i dont like the trigger or grip and some people told me about the questionable insides. i want a drop on it too, so. thats gonna be more than 150 in upgrades, comming close to 700 dollars.

now that i've spent 700 dollars i can almost justify waiting a week or two, and get an angel speed for 150 more.

I know its my money, and I know the ups and downs of owning an angel vs. impulse. but its only a little more for a gun that doesn't need to be upgraded, and that i like a lot more.

No need to yell at me. I already know I sound like a noob asking this question, but i really want to be talked into skipping straight to that gun you wish you had.

If you get the Angel, you'll have more scared newbies, and you can just say yes when they say, "Is that an Angel?!" :elaugh:

2 Points.

Keep in mind for 850, you can get one RAD impulse.
(PM me if you want details)

No newbs are afraid of guns, My friends and I have an Angel Speed, Timmy Dragon, a GOOD Impulse, and a nice cocker. There is little intimidation anymore. Intinmidation comes from the paint you lay in a game. And any Imp could lay paint equal to what an angel speed can. The new board makes all Imps capped at 20 bps. The Angel speed is 22. But for now, the 22 won't hurt you.

Yeah, but most newbs I see either go, "Oh, thats pretty cool." Or, "OMG! Don't shoot at me with that! I bet that'll hurt!!"

I would deffinatly get the Angel. There is far more quality put into an Angel than you will ever find in an Impulse. Vision on an Impulse is nice, yet its not needed. With the Angel you can turn down the mrof so you cant outshoot your loader, drastically reducing your chances of chopping.

Not to mention an Angle already gets really nice efficiency out of the box, Impulse is kinda iffy on that. The Angel really requires no upgrades at all, imo some are a must for an Imp.

But in the end it all comes down to which feels better, if they both feel good, deffinatly go for the Angel.

Your best choice is an angel speed. But, like me, if you want a gun that will be unique and perform great (when i'm finished) upgrade an imp.

Thats what I thought too... So if its not, an upgraded imp would be equal for 1200.

Na, I doubt it, because a noob would rather be with the Angel then impulse.

With high end electros being so close in performance, the only thing that really matters is how it feels in your hands.

Go for the Angel.

Get an imp, slap on a OTB 90 degree frame, a ND ram and LPR, and you can easily keep up with the angels at a really low price.

With the OTB frame you get a whole new feel to the gun, the trigger is nothing like the stock one, MUCH faster lighter and more comfy.

And im not sure what you mean about questionable insides...they seem fine to me.

But you said it yourself, "buts its only a little more for a gun that doesnt need to be upgraded, and that i like a lot more..." So, if you like the angel a lot more then why even ask us??

Um...how is it lighter? It's just a rip-off space frame that makes the gun taller.

The trigger frame can't make a gun taller...

This was posted by Dr J in supporting the OTB. It also states some facts about gun height that are relevant. I was wrong though, it does make it taller but not in a sense that really matters.

Dr. J says, "the height of your gun ABOVE the barrel is more important than the height below the barrel"

Here's why, four reasons...

1. When you are shooting at someone, your marker, in theory, should be slightly rotated out at the top of your marker, this shows just over half of the hopper, almost none of the gun body below the barrel, and nothing of the tank. That's the way I TRY to shoot every time. When you shoot like that, a "taller" distance between the barrel and tank can actually help reduce the surface area of the tank that is exposed.

2. When shooting in the above position, the largest exposed surface area, other than your mask and lens, is the hopper. Using a low/no rise will reduce the amount of the hopper showing because it brings the hopper closer to the gun body. When it is closer, the rotation has less effect on the hopper so it is not as far exposed. The height of the gun below the barrel doesn't have any effect on the hopper.

3. I've shot everything from Automag RTs to custom 'Cockers, from Angels to Shockers, and Bushmasters to Imps w/ OTB frames. The most comfortable gun I have ever shot was the big Shocker, the tallest one. The tall body places the grip fram further down in relation to your body, assuming the barrel is at eye level. The further down the grip fram is, the more level your forearm is, creating less of an angle between the forearm and hand, keeping your wrist straight. Straight is good.

4. With the OTB frame on my Rat I have a fairly tall marker. I have low rise on it to keep the hopper low, but the below barrel height is fairly tall. I like it that way. I play front and having the tall vertical frame gives me the ability to hold my Rat in just about any position you can think of. This makes a huge difference when I am up front in a bunker to small for a guy half my size (I'm 6'2", 185 lbs) because I have to hold my Rat in uncomfortable angles in relation to my body and the OTB makes it more comfy and easier to shoot.

I'm not saying that you should buy a tall gun, but it may be less import to have a short gun than you think.

P.S. I thought it was very import to get all this down. Thanks for reading the whole thing, you're the only one.

Ok dude, i'll explain it so simple that even you can comprehend.

When you hold your marker, and if you shoulder your tank, you'll always put the tank at the same position, so if your tank is brought farhter down, you need to hold your marker higher up to shoulder it the same way, so your increasing your profile. This is why drop forwards make your marker taller.

Maybe you don't understand. No Matter what, unless your an idiot, your going to hold you gun for greatest accuracy. Therefore you will hold your barrel at eye level, leading to the fact that anything below the barrel does not matter.

i just dont use a drop at all and i'll keep it that way. As for tall, w/o the drop, its just about perfect although i need a low rise. the gun actaully sits kinda low but i like it there.

I have my barrel above eye level.

Hell, a friend of mine shoots from the hip sometimes. Is he an idiot? (He's a very good player)

OH, and the Speed is not capped at 22 bps, it's capped out at 30 bps...

ya, the height above the barrel is the only thing that matters, but if you shoulder ur tank (im pretty sure everyone but ollie does), whats below the barrel effects whats above the barrel......

LimeRatImpy

i don't shoulder the tank either, it stays on my forearm and in my arm pit, or againts my forearm and against my ribs. Oh and the Speeds are capped at 22bps in regular mode and 30 in Sensi mode.

No, not always, I own an automag rt with cut down powerfeed, and a RF shocker. If I use my egg and crossfire tank on both the shocker will always have a higher profile. Personally, who looks down the barrel? If you have a vert feed gun you cannot look down the barrel. You look off to the side of it. So, your facts are irrelevent.

LimeRatImpy
07-05-2003, 06:08 PM
actually you can look down the barrel and that is one of the many reasons for tilting a vert feed gun

Because...it is. Lighter than the stock that is. Im sitting here with the stock and OTB frames.

Yep, definitely lighter.

O and about the OTB frame, I just got to shoot paint through it today ALOT, I had to practice with two different teams. I must say that if anybody plans on getting this to make sure they have a cricket 2 board or vision, b/c its very annoying when you have a cricket 1 and its capped at 13.6 or whatever. You will walk it like crazy, and it feels as if the gun is shooting about half the speed your fingers are moving at. But still, the pull is so light I was shooting my own bunker all day long while I was switching hands etc.

It also makes it really difficult to use a maxflo with it, now if I feel like cleaning the maxflo Ill have to take off the OTB frame first.

It also brought the tank about 3 inches forward, which really messed me up, for now at least.

Drop, no drop, tall or short people use what is most comfortable to them and suits their playing style.

You guys are argueing that when you play, your trigger frame decideds how much of your gun shows out of a bunker... You have to hold your gun for optimal performance, so either way you will hold the gun for minimal height. So it doesn't matter if a gun is tall or short.

And now back to the question. Both are great guns. I've held an Angel Speed in a shop and it felt great. I also love my RAT Impulse though.... hmm hard choice. Try out each one and see what YOU like the best. Don't listen to some of these biased goons. ;)
