Hey guys, I got my new trigger and i love it, but I am now interested in either getting a pro team power feed, or lapco direct feed, which do you recomend, and which is faster?
Sorry , I meant to post this in the upgrades thread

Power feed

Just a question for you that where you like to place the hopper? Right or left?
They feed the same speed. Don't let the words "Power" "direct" fool you.

actually a powerfeed will increase your feed time...by redirecting the blowback gasses that usually blowback balls into your hopper, out of the gun, instead of up your hopper :)

I dont realy care, I only care about which one feeds faster.

I found this: Powerfeed, meaning it has a hole milled out of the elbow to allow blowback gas to vent, resulting in a better feed rate.
So, powerfeed is faster.

WAIT! get the lapco i think its cheaper
and also
there is a larger compartment in the direct feeed. which also directs gases and puches the ball donw.
go to county paintball.com and read the reviews. some one emailed lapco about it.
they feed about the same
but the lapco doesnt get in the way of you sights

They claim that the powerfeed feeds faster, (it might be), but I really don't see any difference.

(taken from automag fourm FAQ, its a very good description of a powerfeed and what it actually does, just for some extra info for whoever wants it) (ps. though it shows a mag, its the same general thing :) )
Q: Why is Powerfeed better than Standard feed?
A: Here is a very simple diagram that I drew (go Autocad 2002!!!) comparing the two so you can get the main idea. These are views of the powerfeed and standard feed bodies looking down the barrel into the breech. The white arrows represent the paintballs going into breech. The red arrows represent the blow back gas; big arrows represent the majority of the blow back gas as opposed to the small arrows.
You can see on the standard feed, the majority of the blow back gas is vented right up the feed tube instead of the small hole drilled into the top of the feed tube. This means that the balls are pushed out of the feed tube in the opposite direction you want them to go. This can result in slower feeding and chopping, not to mention that paint can be blown right up into your hopper( very messy and will ruin all of the paint in your hopper ).
On the powerfeed, you can see how most of the blow back air is vented out of the rectangular slot cut into the top of the feed tube. Very little gas actually vents up the feed tube into the hopper. The air venting out of the rectangular slot actually creates a vacuum and helps suck the next ball into the breech. This means faster feeding, and if you get a bad breech break, the paint will volcano out of the hole stead of going right up into the hopper .
***(If you have Attention Deficit Disorder and can't read all that, a PF uses the leftover gas of the 1st shot to bounce the next shot into the breech faster than gravity can feed. *Halliday*)***

i put a peice of paper on it. and it suckedit into the gun

i was merely posting it for those who wanted to know or where deciding against staying with the stock feed or power feed :) and its good to hear you got no blowback, therefore you dont need a powerfeed :) but some people do suffer from it, and might need an explanation as to why :)

ok. im getting rt. is a direct feed REALLY needed for bursts?
of like maybe 2 seconsd?
not like in gonna hold down the trigger for like a minute
. ive seen all those crazy tippmanns and few have direct feed.
i highly suggest getting a motorized hopper if your going to be using a RT. Also, if you dont miind me asking, whats the point of getting a RT if your only gunna hold it for 2 seconds?

get a motorized hopper 1st... ull see more of a diff. with it

WillPill, get a motorized hopper FIRST, then get the RT.
My friend had a 9v loader for his RT, couldn't keep up with it. Chopping ball left and right. Bad...
Get a 12v with a X-borad. That should do it.
I wouldn't spend money on a new feed if I were you.

So would it be a bad idea to drill a hole in the stock elbow?
willpill
07-11-2003, 06:32 PM
ya. it should help. i heard you should drill from the inside out.
there is more.. i dunno tho

On what part of the elbow should the hole be drilled?
willpill
07-11-2003, 07:04 PM
um...
where it is slanting to the right at the base
but im not totally sure.
