I just was out in the yard shooting my new tippy 98 and This only happened 2 or 3 times out of 200 balls but It double loaded.I shot once and two balls came flying out. And then I had the gun pointed down and a ball fell out. I know this has something to do with the detent i just dont know what to do. How do I fix it? alright thanks again everyone

have you taken your gun yet? b/c the ball detent might be the wrong way...or maybe somethin else might be wrong. but i think that you should take it apart and get the manual & put it together step-by-step to make sure evrything is in place.

Check to see if the ball detent is facing the right way. If you're looking down into the breech, it has to be curving up and to the right. If it's not, take your gun apart and turn it around.

if it was the wrong way, he would of been chopping bad, or it would of broken off...
is there an orange thing in there at all when you look into the breech from the elbow?

the detent is there and facing the right way.It was a little chilly and wet out if it matters.

well for that. i think you are like pulling the trigger while your hand is holding the bolt to decock it? yes? no..?
cause when you do that if pushes the old ball inthe barrel and a new one goes in.
