View Full Version : Why Boomy?

Can some one tell me what makes the Boomstick the most hyped barrel on the planet?

I have ascertained the following:

1. The boomstick is a small paint barrel
2. The boomstick is manufactured under Dave Youngblood's "exacting" tolerances (whatever that means)
3. The boomstick is of two piece construction
4. The boomstick's front portion is made of aluminium to make it light
5. The boomstick's rear portion is made of steel to make it strong

So, what makes it an awesome barrel?

1. It is a small paint barrel
2. Dye actually engineers precision into their products
3. The boomy is a two piece barrel

If #1 where the answer, then it would stand to say that small paint barrels are better in general.

If #2 where the reason then it would be safe to say that all Dye barrels are probally as accurate as one another.

If #3 where the reason then it would be safe to say that all of the Dye two pieces are equally awesome except for weight and strength. The standard boomy being in the middle. The titanium boomy at the high end of the strength/low weight spectrum and the aluminum being near the low end of the durability spectrum, but lighter than the standard boomys.

The hype and the marketing confuse the issues.

Why is the boomstick such a great barrel and what makes it the best?

There is no way to tell which barrel is the best. What ever barrel is the best, is the barrel that works for you... Not everyone uses the same barrel, and not everyone shoots the same paint. If everyone shot the same paint, then it would be easy to tell which barrel is the best. But because there are so much different paint bore sizes, and different barrel ID bore sizes, the key is to find a combonation that works best for you, and fits your budget.

I use a boomstick, and I would say it's the best barrel for my needs because I have found a good paint match with the barrel.

Basiclly most barrels will shoot the same, as long as the manufacturing of the barrel is good. A dye excel will shoot the same distance of a boomstick, but it is basiclly your paint/barrel match that makes the barrel accurate. That is why the freak barrel system is so talked about.

actually the boomer is made in different bore sizes, i am pretty sure of this.

i personally dont think its worth the money, i would rather have my lapco, even if the lapco was more i would pay more for the lapco than the boomer. i am completly anti-boomer because i think the people that buy them just use them because of the hype and pros use them, and since they are expensive they have to be the best. well i see people spending more time trying to clean the dam things than actually hitting targets with it. . .
