yep we live in an igloo. and we have ten feet of snow outside. it makes it hard to feed my pet polar bear because he likes to hide. although its cool because you can get your dogsled license when u are 14 ( i have my own dogsled and license already). zact26 will tell u his igloo is down the street.

Paintball in Alaska sounds painful. You'd be shooting marbs. Rather literally.

I've been to Alaska, And I loved it! I'd love to go back! I didn't get a chance to see very much. I was on a ship (cruise liner) and did the inside passage Juno. Sitka, Kitchakan(sp?) I got sunburned and wore shorts every day! of course it was in June, But I loved it!

Man, the only reason to live in Alaska (besides the beatiful sceneri) is to hang out with Doc man. If i lived in ALaska i would track his A** down. i would be his apprentice whther he liked it or not.

for all you who want to know why i live in alaska. i live here because my dad took a job as vice president COO of a rather large corporation here. COO is 1 lower than the CEO and 2 lower than the President so we are doin pretty good here. plus i love it here in alaska.

11-24-2001, 11:31 AM
and lastly to spook. dont worry im not offended. in fact when i do play in the winter i am going to bury myself that would be the most frickin hilarious thing in the world to pop up on someone from under the snow. im going to do that to little kids(minus the paintball gun) on halloween next year. ill just throw snowballs or something.

Alaska is nice for scenery or something to look at from a cruise boat but oh man would I hate to live there. If any of you have gone on a cruise there and went in to a city you may have noticed there were no malls etc. They were very small crappy and secluded and I highly doubt you could find a pb store or a movie theater. It would be boring as hell and most people are not even close to as well off as the people on the cruise boats.

I have said enough

noone except the people who have lived there have any idea what its like.. its not always cold its get up to 75 in summer in anchorage.(i lived there when i wus younger and i visit my dad every summer for about a month) no its not always snowy about 4 or 5 months have no snow at all usually. and yea there are paintball shops and stuff (great alaska paintball co.) i love alaska i would rather live there then in dumb old alabama where i live. i live in huntville alabama and anchorage is a bigger city than this so its not all igloos and stuff people live normal lives just like us down here except the scenery fishing and hunting is about ten times better unless your a wuss who cant take a little cold in the winter

kr8er
02-06-2002, 04:10 PM

Never been to Junea, used to work in Anchorage for a few months, now back in Fairbanks. Play paintball, hunt and fish. Don't play in the winter time, something about running around in butt deep snow and -40, using CO2, just doesn't sound like fun.

Headhunter

Unusually warm this winter. Have been below 0 only a for a few days and that was during Halloween. Snow fall is almost non exsistant(recieved a dusting of 3 inches in the past 24hrs). We did get hit really hard around mid October, about 12inches in less than 24hrs and then the temperatue warmed up to the 50s and melted most of the snow. Then the temp dropped and froze the melted snow leaving us with about 2 inches of ice on the ground.

So it didn't look like a winter wonderland, it looked like a very dirty, cold place to live. :eyes:

I think tomorrow is supposed to be up in the teens with more snow.

i know it was pretty sad....COLD! supposed to be -35* tomorrow here....then add the wind brrrrrrrr

whats the coldest its gotten up in ak this year

Headhunter
01-22-2003, 08:42 PM
I believe -45. Of course after 20 below it doesn't matter. Hey question for you, is your winter a "wet" or "dry". Ours is dry so the cold isn't that bad but it also depends on where in the state you are. Anchorage is more wet than Fairbanks.

You know, if we're not careful, we may bring this thread back to life:eek:

Tommy_pball
01-23-2003, 10:19 AM
wht do you mean by wet? like snow? well we havent gotten any snow yet, its just been really cold,i feel if its gonna be cold theres gotta be alot of snow with it, other wise it just sucks.

they got many colleges up in alaska?

Tommy_pball
01-23-2003, 04:22 PM
i know theres one in anchorage, probably one in juneau

pb theres a problem with your location, it should be where bigfoot roamed, they found it was a hoax when big foots creater died

Headhunter
01-23-2003, 09:03 PM
By wet or dry snow I mean the amount of moisture in the air. Or an easier way to explain it: How easy is it to make a snowman? In a dry climate(like where I live in Alaska) it isn't very easy, the snow is very "fluffy" In a wet climate(like Ohio where I'm originally from) it is very easy, the snow sticks together with much less effort.

As far as colleges go, we have the University of Alaska, Fairbanks(UAF); University of Alaska, Anchorage(UAA); and Unversity of Alaska, South East(UAS). If your really interested goto:http://www.alaska.edu/ and have a look.

Tommy_pball
01-24-2003, 07:25 AM
ah gotcha

umm its alittle of both, i will be dry snow for about half the winter then wet the last half, thats when its best for sledding and stuff

DragunSlayer
02-15-2003, 08:04 PM
i wouldnt doubt that... how long is the paintballing season there.. 4months?

Headhunter
02-15-2003, 08:56 PM
All weather dependant. We can start as early as mid-April and play until late Sept(like this past season). We (the people I play with) mainly run CO2 so that is a big factor. But considering we have almost 20+ hours of daylight during the summer, games lst a LOOOOONG time:D .

DragunSlayer
02-16-2003, 12:27 PM
hell yeah i remember that 20+ hours when i was there, we got a lot of stuff done in one day... Even at night it just was dusk and never got dark... But winter is a different story huh, i'd love to rough out the winter in a log cabin with a woodburning stove and no vehicle (just a bike) in fairbanks like my dads friend, He is one tough soul'd man
