a friend of mine has been wanting to b able 2 have tracer paintballs (jsut the glow in the dark ones) for night games but he wsa thinking that it would be better if you could make it so u got a tracer ever x amount of shoots and not jsut mix the paints so he wanted 2 hoppers on one feed neck and have a sensor or something liek that that after x amount if shoots it would flip to the other hopper that would have the glow ones in it and then back for how ever many or teh regular ones in the other hopper and i was wondering if anybody knew of any way for that to work

if i confused u with this jsut say so and ill try 2 make it clearer

so you basically want two feed necks with a sensor that has a movable valve it controlls to change that hopper after a certain amount of shot? :eyes: it is possible but the custom work that would be required would cost you way to much and wouldn't even be worth it. plus you do relize(?) that the paintballs that glow would even be very bright when you shoot them because they would lose the light, so you might want to get a uv ricochet. It has lil blacklights in it to keep them powered. also you could just have say half a pods worth in the hopper, the just put half of the pod with the normal in, half pod of uv when thats out..;)

wouldt it be more simple to just have a double elbow and have a pin thats crosss it and when you want to switch jus pull it out and push it into the other?

To be frank it'd be a loooot easier to just mix in the tracer balls with the normal ones. You still get the tracer effect and you have money for paint. In the end, you'd just look stupid with two bulky hoppers and a pointlessly complicated mechanism on your gun.

Wouldn't it just be easier to have a hopper full of glow in the dark paint, and a UV light in the breech. Then program a electro's board to fire the UV light every how many shots. It would be so much easier and practical.

I thought of my impulse when I thought of this design. It uses a electric board and has a pre-tapped spot for the eye which a small UV bulb would fit nicely. The only problem would be the board.

that is auctaly a really sweet idea. the only other problem i thoguht of was that the paint might cost to much but i have no clue casue i never have tried to buy glow paint.

About putting a UV LED in your eye, don't do that. Well, that sounds silly to someone who doesn't know what we're talking about. But it wont have time to charge the paintball, especially if you're firing fast.

If you had a capacitor you could get enough of a charge off a 9v to get a glowing paintball though. even at rapid firing speeds it doesn't take any length of time to charge a glow in the dark PB.

I don't really know, I was just saying that was a possible drawback. I know I came off dumb but that's what I meant. Would you put the cap on the board? How big would you need it? at least a micro farad.

You could always use that, but its not out yet, and Im hearing it would be expensive.

Just place the balls in the order you want.

AKA made a hopper that does what your talking about. in the hopper theres a UV light and it charges the balls that it hols inside the only problemis that the hopped has no motor it isnt agitated.normally they look chrome.

JGAC that hopper in that link is a ripoff from a real machine gun magazine, excellent idea, i wish i thought of it.

Heres a link to a gun that uses that magazine originally http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg57-e.htm

they mention that the design is protected under a copyright in that article...

The design to make it hold circular paintballs, sure, but we all know now that the Calico submachinegun had the design in its magazine first :P

there is this one sniper magazine, i forgot what its called but it loads horizontally and its just this single tube. it can only load 25 or something from there he can load it in any order. i mean he can either choose quantity over stealth and ammunition type, his choice but if i were him i would buy the tube thing and just weld it onto the side of the hopper/paintball rifle feed so every couple shots he can get another colored paintball. but personally i think is useless.
