whats the difference between the 03 Rat and the Rat Jr. in performance, I'm starting to play tournies but I dont have lots of money, and I'm looking to get one of the two.
Is the 03 Rat that much better that the Rat Jr. to send that much more money?

The '03 Rat isn't a whole lot better than the RJR. It has better (different) milling, a Freak with 1 insert, and a stubby bolt... Maybe a bit more things, nothing comes to mind as they both have VFF now... Well, it's really your choice, both are good.
They are both milled for the VFF (have the special air passageway) but only the 03 rat comes with the actuall VFF mounted on the gun.
Either one would be good, but if you have that much money, you might as well get the better one. As long as you still have enough money to get Nitro and a good hopper. (This coming from the person who bought the rat without having enough money for nitro. )

The RJR is designed for the several different markets.
The guy that has a fully upgraded Impulse- but wants a milled body (Get an RJR- put all his upgrades in the rjr and sell his old body with the RJR interals for $350 or so)
The guy that is on a budget and can't afford to get all the upgrades right away
The guy that dosen't want to use a freak-- would rather get a pipe or something else
The guy that wants to "roll his own" - maybe wants to use an evil resipator and 90* frame (or what ever)
Of course the '03 is designed more for the "wanta buy the best preforming package possible-right out of the box" market.
It is no accident that there are basicly 3 price levels- the RJR at $500, the Projects at $600 and of course the '03s at $700
