There are many versions of the story of the Jersey Devil. This is one of the most popular ones. The year is 1735. Mother Leeds was expecting her thirteenth child. Burdened by too many children, Mother Leeds wishes that her baby be a spawn of the Devil. Some local women help deliver the baby one stormy night. Mother Leeds gives birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. Suddenly, the baby starts to change before the women's eyes. The baby grows wings, hooves and a tail and turns into a hideous animal. The beast lets out a blood curdling screech and escapes up the chimney.
The legend of the Jersey Devil was limited to the Pine Barrens and was relatively unknown throughout the rest of the state. All that changed one very eventful week in January 1909. During the week of January 16 - 23rd, there were over 1,000 reported sightings of the Jersey Devil from Cape May to Trenton. Residents reported seeing strange tracks in the snow. Tracks were found in yards, on roof tops, and in fields. A high pitched piercing scream was heard echoing through the night. Livestock and pets were found killed or mutilated. Schools and factories closed because people were afraid to leave their homes.
In "Hunt for the Jersey Devil", you will defend your town from attacks and protect your livestock. There will also be missions that you can attempt for extra points. If you are on the Devil's team, you must attack the towns and take their flags. Stealing their chickens and sheep gains you extra points. Players will encounter the birthplace of the devil, strange bones in the woods, and hear the devil's piercing scream echo through the night.
