im guessing to do it at your house would be very hard....doesent it have to do something with electricity and a special kind of paint and making all the atoms negative and stuff

Bah, its a few chemicals and a car battery. Run a google.
I know a guy that used to annodize titanium rings to make jewelry...I think he uses cocacola as the anno base on one of them. ;)

Bah nothing. You ever see hydrogen gas explode? Because that's what is formed during the anodizing process. If you don't know what you're doing, it's very dangerous. Not to mention the waste. The dyes used are toxic. It's not that you can't do it, but that you must be well informed and responsible enough. Unless you don't mind the possibility of the EPA knocking at the door. Besides, if you're 14, mom and dad would probably have reservations about letting you do it. ;)

I have done it before, and yes it is VERY dangerous.
It can be done safely, and cheaply, but EVERY SAFETY PRECAUTION MUST BE FOLLOWED.
As mentioned above, do a yahoo search, and you will find lots of "how to" pages.
Here is the basic process:
1- disassemble all parts. The aluminiun should be one solid peice with NO other metals/materials (like screws, orings, plastics, whatever). With home setups, each peice of aluminiun is usually annodized separetly.
2- "pot metals" can not be annodized. (often used in grips frames).
3- Clean aluminium of all oil/fingerprints/etc, then remove old anno using either nitric acid, lye, or similar compound.
4- Dip in sufuric acid, while running lots of current through the metal. This is the hard part. Temperautre, current, and acidity have to be monitored and controlled.
5-Dip in boiling water with the dye of choice. Faded annod are done by slowing removing aluminiun out of water.
6-polish up the metal, or leave unpolished for that "dust" look.
So, it is possible to do anno with battery acid, oven cleaner, battery charger, and dyes. The hard part is getting a good anno, and doing it safely.

final costs for a good setup will amount to $500-1000 btw + you might want to find a good place to do with, with some ventilation....

cant be annodized the same way aluminum is annodized ;) - i believe, in fact, thats why its recommended that you use titanum clips for annodizing, so they keep conducting and never annodize :)
then again, i havent looked into this for a while, i looked into it when i was 17 ;) , about a year ago - the answer is yes its possible, just do your research and get the right equipment and protection, and dont be stupid.... and you should be fine.. you need money and need to know what your doing, and oh yea, space wouldnt hurt either :eyes:
