For a newbie? First off, have you ever played before? If you haven't you should play a few times before even considering buying a paintball gun of your own. This sport can be a very enjoyable one, but just make sure you are really into it before making an financial investment in a gun, especially a higher end gun like the ones you listed.

no no no man
the best thing to do is go to wal-mart, pick up a BE stingray, and play a couple times
if paintball is your thing, play with the ray a lil bit till you get money for a better gun
i'd upgrade to a spyder or price equivilant to that, spend a few $$$'s on that
and if you plan on getting really serious, only then should you buy a high end gun
renting a goddamn tippman costs just as much as buying a stingray
and you can sell the stingray for like 30-40 afterwards if you keep it in good condition

like magnus said, Dont buy a high end gun if you are a newbie. a good cheap gun that you could start off with would be a spyder compact 2000. you can find them for like $80 i think.

Youre a newbie but your a captain of your team??? (avatar and description above it :P )
Anyway.. an Impulse is made by Smart Parts. They are about $400-$500. They are an ' electro '.. this means it uses electronics to fire which increases ROF. A battery is used and has to be used to fire the marker.
An autococker is made by Worr Game products (WGP). it is one of the most popular markers. There are many different kinds and the prices vary. They are anywhere from $300 - $1200. This is a high end marker and is semi only. (very few autocockers have more fire modes than semi...)
An automag is similar and is also a ' high end semi '. It has a unique design and you should go to the AGD (Air Gun Designs..creators of the mag) Forum and go to the picture thread to see its unique, single tunnel, design. These markers are very small (and one of my favs) and unique.
Look around the forum, and go to every markers forum and look at all the picture threads, youll learn a lot. :P Good luck!\
...hope that helped a little .. :eyes:

yeah, get a compact not a tl+ .
If you ever upgrade you will just be throwing away money. And if you don't upgrade you will still be throwing away money.
Dosn't the TL have the reg. after the X-chamber? if so the reg is worthless and the x-chamber is more of a grip anyway if it comes with a kingman gun.
By a compact with a new barrel mask and a bunch of paint and just play. that's what you should do IMHO

I say you get a Spyder Compact 2000. Like the other guys said, it's a good gun. Just Make sure you get a new barrel, they arent too accurate.

its what the field hires out
they rent out infernos and set them around 200
but i checked with them and its ok for me to set my marker to 300
i think they do it to encourage regulars to by there own gear
:)
n e way how much would a compact cot with a new barrel
looking for acuracy not botherd bout the sound
and please convert to Sterling (english pounds)
i could have got a tl + for about £100

a tlplus is a decent gun. go for it. it does not have the x-chamber after the reg like someone said. that is the shutter.

Probably a Tippman 98 or 98 Custome. Simple to clean and care for, but they are reliable and don't chop and break balls a lot.

Psychosis, why do you want to crank your gun so high?
300 fps is WAY too high for rec play.
and a good barrel for the spyder is the lapco bigshot, its loud but REALLY accurate. its $50 american and i hate english people because they always butcher the english language with their crazy slang and their damn english accents so . . . yeah

rec play with tl+ and co2 = 270 fps AT MOST
rec play with rental gun and Co2 = 260 AT MOST
if you set them past that here comes the hot gun penalties...
and remember also to chrono before and after every game...

its more long range scenario play
the main game we play one team is one side of a river and the other team ius on the other side (bout 100 meters away!)
and it usually turns into one big shoot out but there are 3 hostages near the river on one side and the other team has to rescue them.
but anyway its not just speed ball and rec play
and i say 300 and i mean 280-290
min you its fun with the infernos becouse they curl soooooo much you can hit people even when they are completly concealed :)
the paint just curls round the barrels and such

The field that I play at allows speeds up to 300 fps, and we play bunkering a lot.

Hey Pb, just a little lesson for you all on how liquid co2 behaves, and co2 in general is affected by the two devices you mentioned.
First of all, you do want to put the reg AFTER the expansion chamber, not the other way around as you stated.
Co2 inside your tank exists in a mostly liquid state. As the co2 is allowed to expand into a lower pressure area, this liquid boils off and turns to gas. A small amout of liquid co2 will create a large volume of gas.
What you want to have entering the gun is GAS ONLY. The reason for this is that liquid will always expand and create higher pressure when it is capable of doing so.
An expansion chamber simply provides a place for this process to occur. A regulator on the other hand, only controls the pressure that it can detect, and has no effect on the co2 itself, beyond the (small) area that it has for it to expand in.
If you were to mount the reg before the x chamber, it would become useless. Liquid co2 would pass through the reg at a certain pressure and then expand in the x chamber, or the gun itself, thearby increasing the pressure.
The best setup would be to mount an x chamber before the reg, so that the co2 is in gas form when it enters the reg, where the gasious pressure is controlled, making your gun more consistant.
I hope this helps:D
