View Full Version : what does power feed do?
I'm very new to paintball(only played two games and it was awesome) so I decided to start playing. I just got a TL + yesterday and the instructions say to put lubricant in the power feed hole, I knew there was power feed on the gun but what does it do, and where is it(my guess was it is the hole next to the hopper hole)?

A power feed does 3 things basically,
1) stops pingpongballing When a blow back semi (like your sspyder or tippmann or etc.) is fired a little air is blown out the feed hole. This can cause the paintball in line to enter the gun to be blown upward (pingpong balling or bingo balling) This in turn can cause the ball to take tolong to drop into place infront of the bolt and get chopped during rapid firing.
2) places the hopper behind cover when firing out the right side of a bunker. Which is most players strongest side.
3) allows for a long line of balls to be ready and waiting to load. If you do not have an agitated hopper some times you will fire a few shots and discorver that you have to shake the gun to get more balls to drop. whenthis happens on a powerfeed gun you have about 5-6 shots before you have to shake. witha standard fees about 2-3. So sometimes thee jam gets fixed beforeyou shoot those 6 shots and you don't ever notice it.
Additionally i use my powerfeed as an additional saftey device. When i get shot i can trun the plug in the powerfeed off and fire one ball into the ground then plug the barrel turn on the saftey and leave the field that means no way is a ball firing accidentally. The only drawback is if you forget to turn it back on next game.

the powerfeed is an amazing thing. really it is. it prevents what is called blowback. when the trigger is pulled, the bolt slides forward and lets co2 or nitogen into the breech and from there it forces the paintball out of the barrel. what happens is when the co2 is being forced out. it tends to go up through the powerfeed. the powerfeed has a hole in it to let the excess air out. standard feed or vertical feed both don't have that hole. therefore, the balls waiting to be dropped into the gun, ar blown up preventing a ball from dropping into the breech as fast. if you figure it out though, vertical feed drops the balls like .589 seconds faster but that doesn't matter. the powerfeed also prevents you from chopping balls as much. so basically it lets some co2 out when you shoot so the balls can drop in fast. hope that helps. oh and the plug in the powerfeed can be turned to prevent balls from dropping into the breech. like a safety device.

powerfeed is the greatest design feature on a gun since the trigger was invented.

That's definitely very debatable... ;) I, personally, think it's the idea of using nitrogen/compressed air as an air source, the motorized hopper, or the idea of aftermarket barrels. :)

is it normal for my powerfeed knob to be hard to turn??
