I was orginally thinking about buying the stealth. But then I noticed the SSR and thought that why buy the Stealth when I can get their latest barrel for only $20 more? Well, I'm hoping you people who own those barrels can give me a good reason to purchase it. I have the money, I just need to know if it's any good. I have a 98 custom. No upgrade yet, so this will be my first. I'm hoping you will respond and tell me if the barrel is wirth the $ or not, because I want to order it before this Sunday.

I heard that the stealth shoots pretty decent... but I haven't heard anything about the SSR. But for the same price... why not go for an ultralite? Or better yet.... for half that price you can get a CP 1 piece which will perform the same. I agree with adema3412... for now... say no to smart parts till they clear all that *Beep* up and prove that they aren't *****holes

Ok. I've pretty much decided on a Dye ultra lite barrel. The only problem I have now, is what length to get. I'm leaning more towards the 18" barrel considering I always play as a sniper. And I can always buy a different front size to make it 14" later. I want either a 16" or an 18" I'm just not sure yet. I'm going to probably get the 18" unless someone can reply and give some actual facts that it won't be any more accurate than a 14"-16".

18inch barrels are a waste of gas and your money. You only need a 16 inch. 16 and 18 won't make that big of a difference in accuracy... but it would make a difference in how you play because you would have a big stick now  lol what i mean is that playing in a bunker would suck with a 18 inch cause you would hafta lean back hella

Be carefull saying "sniper" on these boards. Anyway, 18" is ridiculous, I can't believe you're even considering it, anything over 14" just puts drag on the ball. And the only reason to get a 14" is to push in air bunkers, peek through brush, etc. If you HAVE to get a longer barrel, go with 14". After playing with it, you'll find that even 14" is enough to trip over. My .02

Can one of you explain to me why the "18 inch would not provide more accuracy than the 14-16"? BTW, I'm a woodland player, not a speedball player, I already have a 14" barrel meant for speed ball. So I'm looking for something that's accurate enough to shoot in between lots of little leaves etc etc...

Well if u play wood... and want accuracy.... might as well go with a flatline right?

I don't have the money for one. And I don't want a flat line. I want an ultra lite or something close to it. I just want some facts because I'm sick if people just talking about why an 18" barrel is no more accurate than a 14". They never explain why.

because the extra amount of length is generally porting, which does nothing except prevent the acceleration of the ball. the first 6-8" is usually unported on the barrel where the ball will accelerate to reach it's velocity of 300fps. Once that ball hits the porting, gas escapes and prevents the ball from accelerating any further. the only downside to using a long barrel is gas efficiency. it requires more gas for an 18" barrel to expel the ball out than let's say a 10". accuracy is largely dependent on factors that you cannot control. saiyan_warrior posted a nice little article about range and accuracy that is at the very top of the page. http://www.pbreview.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24647 he explains why an 18" barrel doesn't shoot more accurately than a 10" or 12" barrel. the longest i would go with is a 16" for airball, but that's all preference. see how an 18" feels on the tippman, too long...just right. it's up to you in the end.

Why would an 18'' barrel be more accurate? All the extra 4" do is add more drag. The length of the barrel really has almost no meaning as to how accurate it is. A 16" is good for airball bacause you can push the bunkers around, you can also stick it though brush in the woods. 16" is the max you should get, but I'd still advise against it. Get a 14". And for normal speedball (not airball or hyperball) get something like a 12"
