I have just chartered a paintball club for my high school, and there is nothing the administration can do about it! At first I was aprehensive about how the teachers and staff would react, but there is a law, I forget what it is called, but anyways this law prevents the schools from being bias about which clubs they allow and don't allow in school. So thanks to the existance of the chess club and other special intrest clubs, I now have a paintball club. I'll keep you guys updated about it.
"One small step for a paintball player, one giant leap for paintball kind". :blah:

Basically, I'm just trying to get paintball at a more universal level where everyone knows about it, like football, baseball basketball or tennis or just any other sport in America. It shouldn't always have to be an underground sport where the outside world haveing no clue about it other than overblown stories the media provides for them. The more people know about it, the eaiser it is for them to accept it. :)

The thing about starting clubs where objects remotely look like a gun and propel an object out of it at high speed is that nowadays after all the school shootings, the administration and parents don't want to take the risk. It's bad PR when parents complain to the administration and the administration hides behind the laws. The parents will take it to the state governor then it'll be a nationwide thing, then there'll be a big debate over it.
I wouldn't expect sponsorship from the school because public education is already pretty much pushed for funds. Ask your principal/counselor about it but don't push it or make a petition or anything. Start a club outside of school if they refuse. They can't do anything about that.

I'm not asking for funds from the school, if I did then the school would have a hand in everything we do and dictate what my club does and so forth, I just wanted to start a club in school. That was a victory in itself. The hard part now is getting people interested and informed about the existance of my club and what paintball really is about.

The only reason people react that way to paintball is because they don't know any better. They judge it before they even try to understand it. By having this club, it offers oppertunity for people, who wouldn't normally have anything remotely to do with paintball, to learn about it. Hopefully it'll cause a stir and ruffle up some feathers. That way people will have no choice but to look at the facts I present to them.

well it wasnt during school hours, but it was school affilliated. for special interest (gifted program) we had to organise something. so we deciede lets try to play paintball! and the thing was such a hit that we will be making a paintball club and we might have the field trip during school hours. oh yea, we need to hve a graduation project before we leave high school. so our paintball club is our project.

I just got back from the first meeting. It was amazing! I had expected maybe twenty people to show up at the most, but then over seventy people came! The room we meet in was filled with people, and there were still people outside. My friend Ronald, who is the president, (he wanted to be president because this is his senior year, and he has much more experience since hes been playing since he was ten) and I spoke to the group. Only a few of them actually had equipment, but all the rest seemed eager to play and a few of them will probably buy their own. I doubt they'll all remain members though, at most only half of the entire group will stay. But thats still a grat number!:D

We tried a paintball field trip for a gifted progrem (keep out the riff raff that give paintball a bad name) and according to the principal and the district office(our teacher was all for it) to many parents complained about it and the trip was cancelled, never did get another trip ethier, thats the sammll town way of thinking here that pisses me off anythign that isnt conventional is basiclyy unallowwed and shunned, alowthough 2 of our parent are on the school board and a couple of the members are up to play a game or to we might see this one through after all.

my school would like throw me out if i suggested it...
at my school, if you point your fingers at some one that looks like a gun, and say, bang bang your dead, boom, you are kicked out. So i dont think they are gonna allow us to use things that actually DO shoot.

You should really check with someone in charge of the clubs, such as a teacher or someone, before you do something as drastic as that. When I started my club, I went to a meeting on how to charter a club, and then I had to fill out a stackload of paperwork before I could even start it. But now that I have, it is sanctioned by the school and so I won't get in trouble for it. Best of luck to you.
