Theres an NPPL tournament being played in NY? ...I thought it was in Jersey ...?

NPPL has always done that, The LA open is not in LA, NPPL chicago is not in Chicago. Its a gimmick. it will be there aug 7th-10th
and yes it should be a really nice size trade show

well i know we are flying into Laguardia and according to the NPPL website its about 40 miles from there
there are directions on how to get there from the NYC on the NPPL's website

where in NYC would they hold it? They use the major towns to basically give people an idea of where it is, then find the actual venue within 30 miles or so of the city.

Yeah, its about a half hour or so from NYC from what I've heard.
