Such thing as 1v1?

Is there such thing as 1v1 at tourneys? I'm just curious because I have seen people sponsered that aren't even on a team...most sponsered people are usually on teams.

At my field, when the tourneys over and two teams tied, they do an Ironman (One on one, usually captains). It's pretty cool.

There are pro 1v1s. They have them all the time at major tourneys as a thing to do after the normal games or before. They are "open" to anyone. They're called top guns.
