Problems/Solutions
Q. What should I do if my gun is leaking down the barrel?
A.
1. Cock your gun, if you have yet to do so
2. Check that your valve o-rings are oiled
3. Check that your valve o-rings are not damaged
4. Be sure that your valve is installed correctly (Large hole is touched by cup seal; small hole faces the striker)
5. If none of those are the problem, replace the cup seal (Cup seal damage may be minimal, but will still cause leaking down the barrel)

Q. What is an anti-siphon?
A. An anti-siphon tube is a tube in your CO2 tank that is bent "up" near the end so that when the tank is screwed in correctly, the tank will only output gaseous CO2. This will greatly improve your consistency.

Q. Can I put aftermarket .45 grips on my Spyder?
A. Only on the mechanical trigger frames. Spyder E-Frames aren't .45 grip frames.

Q. My gun isn't recocking, what could cause this to happen?
A.
1. Most often problem is the striker o-ring, be sure it's lubed and isn't damaged
2. Check the sear for excessive wear
3. If you performed a trigger job by sanding the sear too much, or creating a sear rest that made the sear rest too low, try undoing it to see if a low sear was the problem. If you sanded the sear too much, I recommend that you replace the sear and make a sear rest rather than sanding the sear, due to the reason that you can undo what you did. :) If your rest kept the sear too low, take it off and redo a rest that allows the striker to catch onto the sear.
4. Check for leaks
5. If you've replaced the cupseal with a brass one, this leads to many recocking problems, especially in LP Spyders due to the weight of the cupseal. Replace with your stock plastic one.

Q. When I try cock my gun, the striker doesn't catch onto the sear, why?
A. Your sear is too low, replace your sear if it has to do with it wearing out, or replace your sear rest with one that doesn't lower the sear quite as much

Q. Even with the velocity adjuster screw taken out, my velocity is still over the field limit, what can I do to lower the velocity?
A.
1. Try clipping your main spring by a loop or two. Don't be afraid to clip the spring, just don't clip like half of it. ;) 3-4 loops will be fine. If the velocity is lower, and you feel like shooting higher, screw in the velocity adjuster until the velocity is comfortable to you and is legal to the field.
2. If you're using a regulator, turn down the pressure a bit, if you don't feel like clipping the main spring

Q. With the velocity adjust screwed all the way in, I'm still shooting low, how do I raise the velocity?
A. Get a Maddmann spring kit, it comes with three different types of springs for different velocities.
Green = Low (Indoor type) velocities
Blue = Medium velocities
Red = High (Outdoor type) velocities
Not only that, but it comes with several other springs that will make your trigger a bit softer, and help with LP, if you choose to do so later

Q. Is it normal for my bolt to get scratched up?
A. Yes. Scratching is normal for all Spyders. Smoothing and polishing it is easy and will help the gun operate smoother. The reason the bolt gets scratched up is because Kingman's quality control tolerances aren't perfect, so the bolt and tube don't match precisely. A well-scratched bolt will be smoother, as it fits the tube better.

Q. How do I remove the stock bolt?
A. You need to unscrew the sight rail in order to remove the black top plug. In addition, here's how to disassemble your spyder (http://spyder-club.org/articles/apart1.shtml)

Q. How strong should my valve spring be?
A. Soft is definitely better, as the time it takes for the valve pin assembly to close is slower. Because of that, more air can flow through before closing.

Q. My gun is leaking near the valve. The O-Rings look okay, what should I do?
A. Replace them anyway. O-Rings can be damaged without being able to distinguish that with your naked eye.

Q. What is polishing your internals?
A. Polishing Internals (http://www.ottersccustoms.com/polishing.html)

Q. How do I remove the venturi in my bolt?
A. Removing your bolt's venturi (http://www.ottersccustoms.com/boltmod.html)

Q. Can I use HPA (High-Pressure Air, otherwise known as Nitro) on my Spyder?
A. Yes, you can. It is advisable that you get a secondary regulator, but it is not required.

EM1 FAQ

Care and Feeding of your EM1 (http://www.ottersccustoms.com/em1upkeep.html)

How do i adjust the trigger?
To adjust the trigger use the small allan wrench that came with the gun and turn the tiny set screw on the trigger. Right for a smaller trigger pull, left for a longer trigger pull. Note: If adjusted in all the way the trigger will "stick" and you will not be able to fire.

What are the problems whith EM1's?
Mostly the problems ith the EM1 lie in the bolt. For some reason it is not long enough on only some guns. This can cause blow back up the hopper and ball choppage. It can also cause jams which will streach the bolt return spring out. To correct this get a new bolt or return the gun for a new one.

How do i put a drop foreward on my EM1?
The EM1 has standard bottom line holes like any other gun. But unfortunatly it is also tapped for horizontial holes which the kingman regulator uses. So, if you don't want to replace the regulator, the only drop forward that will work is the Check-It Products universial spyder drop. I think that is the only one that will work.

How do I put a regulator on my EM1?
To put a new regulator on your EM1 you first need a vertical adapter. Check-It Products makes one for the EM1. I belive you can also use the bushmaster one. Note: if it is a regulator under the grip then you can use it without any modifications.

What matanince do I have to do on my EM1?
Daily maintenance includes cleaning your gun. Use oil on the hammer and pneumatic cylinder. There is no need to oil the bolt, it is delrin. A little oil on the valve may be nessary too.

What are fixes to problems?
If it is leaking out the trigger frame try putting oil in the macroline hose and gasing the marker up. Do not put oil in the regulator.

If it is gased up and not firing: Check to make sure the bolt is in right. To put the bolt in make it so the slot is facing up. Pull the slot over the hole in the top of the marker. Put the bolt pin in half way. Then tip the marker up at a 45 degree angle and slide the bolt pin in he rest of the way. Or check to make sure you have a good battery. Also the most common problem is the pneumatic clyinder is not in the right way. Make sure the three holes are facing down.

If it is leaking out the barrel: Check all your o-rings for nicks. Cheak your pneumatic cylinder and hammer for nicks as well as your valve.

If your solenoid is leaking: Check your pressure. Make sure it is in a safe zone.

Note: The LPR or low pressure regulator is not to be played with or it will void your warranty. If there is a problem send it back to kingman.

Also many people replace the kingman regulator right off. Some good ones to look at are Mac Dev Gladiator, AKALMP Sidewinder, ANS Gen-X, Air America Vigilante, or Smart Parts Max-Flow.

Check it products makes the EM1 vertical adapter and also a Angel type high rise feed tube for the EM1.
