The X-Customs Anti-Chop Eye (X-ACE for short) is one step closer to completion. After throwing out the first two schematics, I wrote my own schematics with a lot of help from Terminal Err (thanks man!). A big thanks to everyone else that helped out (you know who you are). I can now say that I have two working versions of the X-ACE.
In early August, I will gain access to a drill press. I will be using this to attempt installing the ACE on my Spyder Flash. If the drilling is a failure, I will need to find a backup body and possibly a backup ESP frame. The way it looks now, I may need to find a local machining shop to do the drilling, tapping, and milling (yes, there is going to be some milling required).
To protect the eye parts, the electronics will be assembled into a project box (which will hopefully fit loose inside the ESP frame without getting in the way), and Intimidator eye covers will cover the eye transmitter and detector. If I offer this modification to the public, I will likely offer the option of using any Intimidator eye covers.
In addition to the X-ACE, the website should be upgraded with new webspace and a new domain. I will also be putting a forum in there eventually. When I release everything, I may also have a new look to the website. ;) A select few people have seen the preview for the new look, and I think I’m going to leave it at that. I want it to be a surprise. :D
Drop forwards… Yeah, it has been a long time. I was supposed to get a prototype from Fear Factory well over a month ago, and I have been just too busy or too lazy to call. I don’t have much important to do tomorrow, so I’ll give him a call and get these things started.
Stickers! A friend has reminded me that I still need to get these made. Again, these stickers are pretty expensive, so I may hold off on the stickers for a little while. At least until I get enough donations to help support some of the expense.
Please take notice that I am paying for nearly all of this out of my own pocket, with no income coming in. Donations go a LONG way for X-Customs. I appreciate all of your support, and I hope my completed projects are helpful to the paintball community.
