The valve on my Impulse is leaking. I hadn't greased it for a while. Do you think it's an o-ring problem? I think I have a delrin valve.

IMO, just grease it. WHenever I have a leak in my impulse it's always because I didn't lube it at all or didn't lube it enough. try that and see if it works and while you do that check the valve pin for any damage

I lubed it some but, ill mess around with it some more, and if that doesn't work, I 've already ordered a seal kit.

make sure you put the valve back in right...i did that once and had problems, take the valve out, and look on both sides of the valve, the side that the piston fits into better (b/c that side of the valve has an angle that meets the pistons angle, and that's how you put your valve in, also grease it. hope i explained that pretty well..it should be self explanatory when you look at the valve.

Yeah, i know what you mean. Do you have the new delrin valve or the old steel one?

Was that it ds? Is it still leaking? Can ya tell us if you heard anything (like the sound of air leaking) weird? Ya don't have to soak those valves in dow, just a little dab all around the o-ring will do it, to it!;) I'll normally pull the hammer assembly out the same time that I clean the valve, and run a clean cloth all the way through the bottom half before putting it all back together.

I took the valve out, removed the o-rings on the outside part, cleaned it, and greased it, and it's still leaking. I can hear it leaking, and if i take the bolt out while it's gassed up, I can put my finger over the hole where the gas comes up through the bolt I can feel the air coming out. If i hold my finger over the hole tight enough, I can stop the leak. I'm pretty sure the valve is in the right way.

OK, well another thing that might be the problem is your hammer assembly, whenever I don't grease it enough I hear leaking down the barrel, so try greasing up the hammer assembly as said in the manual BUT be extra generous on the o-rings, and screw in the hammer very tight and this will eliminate the possibility of this being the leak.

It's the valve that's leaking

just take the valve assembly out, as well as the hammer assembly and bolt, look at every o-ring really carefully, and then put grease wherever there seems to be a small amount, put it back together right, and shoot, if it's still leaking, check the solenoid, clean the spool, grease it, put it back together, make sure every screw is secure, and put it back together, if it's still leaking after that, just send it to smart parts.

They look ok, but right now I think that might be the problem.

if your not gonna use your gun soon, just send it to smart parts and they'll fix it for free! Love that SP customer support!

I want to use it this weekend.:( I already ordered a seal kit.
OK-- your little expermint with removing the bolt and covering the port tells us that there is an 99.9% certenty that the leak ahs to do with the valve chamber.
This means the air is coming by th the valve, or the air is getting around the valve seat.
You did not answer the question as to if you have a the SS valve or the Delrin valve. It is very common for Impulse that have been dry fired a LOT to have the SS valves bend. normaly there is a very easy way to spot this. if you look into the valve chamber with the valve removed, a bent valve will anounce its self by a "shiny" spot on the valve seat. If you look at it close, you will most likly find it is somewhat damaged in the "shiny spot."
The cure is a call to Smart parts for a new valve and new valve seat.
If you have a delrin valve, these too can get bent, but these wonderful little guys will often strighten themselves. Make sure you have a barrel pulut in the barrel or better yet a a barrel condom on the the barrel (this is so we have a proper amount to back pressure) and just hammer on the gun for a bunch of shots. It MAY just strighten its self ount!
OK--the valve seat looks goo, and you have a bit of lube on the o-ring-- then the only other "easy" thing it might be is the o-rings on the valve body its self. Not much sense in working on this until you get your o-ring kit. simple to fix--take off the grip and frame and loosen the valve locating screw. put the valve out and replace the rings.
A note about the o-rings. there are severl o-ring that appear the same EXCEPT FOR THEIR HARDNESS. make certain you get the "soft" o-ring in the correct places. SORT the o-rings by size and hardness FIRST-- before starting to replaceing them.

Thanks, I'll check for bending. I have a delrin valve.

It doesn't look bent, and it's still leaking. I got the seal kit, but how do I know which o-rings are for the valve?

I don't think its o-rings. I called Smart Parts. The guy said it could be a solenoid problem and not a valve problem. I regreased the solenoid, but I won't know till Saturday if the leak's gone cause I'm out of co2.
