This has been said MANY TIMES, the most popular ones are the glad, sidewinder, BL torpedo, messiah and such.......I have the sidewinder, my friend who also owns a BKO has the torpedo and his bro who also has a BKO owns the glad.....we all like ours better than eachothers, theres a review on all @ tantrum's website, THEY WERE USED ON A BUSHY NOT A BKO, this makes a difference all are good tho

sidewinder...it's just good man

canemaster

nah. for the price the PowerStation (IMO) would be better. Sidewinders r good but powerstations recharge pretty much at the same rate or faster and r 25$ cheaper.

Glads r good too but I've heard they get dirty easy and and consistancy doesnt get better than +/- 4. This is what i've heard so if im wrong, someone plz correct me.

well... all regulators out there uses a spring as the piston, common design, the glad seems good, but a lot of timmy users replace the glad with something else... on the other end, the sidewinder doesnt use a spring as a piston, but uses air itself, such a better design... final note, sidewinder has the a different, better if you ask me, and that design is worth every penny

Cracka_G

Also the Sidewinder is a very good known regulator and a lot of people know how great it is...the other one they are talking about not many people know about and that means it might not as be as good as they say...people know the sidewinder and know it for it's good performance...the sidewinder in my mind would be the better buy

How would the design affect the recharge rate or consistancy?
Just asking

Sir Stunna Lot
07-29-2003, 08:07 PM
its all about design, the reason why blowback that are spring powered were replace with pneumatci rams

im not saying regulators with springs are bad (90% of regs have springs)... but the sidewinder which is springless is a better design since it has one less moving part you'll have to worry about

Where might I find this CP regulator?

You just don't get it foo do ya....trust me the sidewinder will be noticed more at tournaments and people will consider it as a lot better upgrade to...

I don't care to be noticed.

Actually I'm probably going to get the Vigilante, with the low pressure spring-set.

$50, can't go wrong.

My only ***** is it doesn't come in silver, unless I pay like $30 extra.

Why not just spend like 20 dollars more and get the gladiator then

canemaster
07-29-2003, 08:23 PM
ok thanks im proly gonna get a sidewinder now. lol. Is there a site or link that shows how to clean/lube it cause wouldn't it be different than spring regs?

Good choice...i'm not real sure...maybe obdo.net might have it but you made the right decision..

canemaster
07-29-2003, 08:29 PM
ok. i havent made the decision yet. I have to read the review and stuff. Whats ur fps consistancy (+/-)? cuase the my reg is really consistant and they prolly recharge at teh same rate

http://airsoldier.com/~haveblue/tech/regulators/sidewinder.html

consistency depends on the whole setup along with the HPR (like lpr and paint/barrl match)

last time i chronoed (i have a sidewinder and a rock) i got 280 280 283 283 280 280 280 280 283 280

Actually they don't need cleaning anymore than any other high end reg out there provided you take the same measure to keep them clean (nipple cap, clean air, etc.) And yes, you were really misinformed ont he consistany issue. I get +/- 1 out of my gladiator. Plus the 2k3 glads are supposed to be able to handle even CO2 which up to this point was something that was really owned by palmers stab. All in all, your top three would be the Glad, the sidewinder, and the CP, though the last one is not from experience, just from reviews I have heard from voices I trust. In the end, my final decision came down to this, when buying the reg for my BKO, the glad has the hose coimg right out of the bottom where as the sidewinder, even with the swivel bottom which is nice, kept getting in the way coming out the side. Bothers some, and is fine for others. I would recommend one of those three.

Sir, don;t you mean the torpedo here instead of the gladiator?

I've had bad luck with the Gladiator. I've tried the 2003 and it creeps like crazy, out of the box. Cleaned it, took it apart, and noted that it has a very interesting design. There is nothing there to keep the piston centered. Also, if you are trying to sweet-spot it, it is easy to push the bearing into the main housing if you screw the velocity adjustment in too far. Put it back together and it worked for a few games, then needed to be cleaned and lubed again. Even bought a rebuild kit and tried replacing all the parts, but still sometimes it would creep during a game, and I would end up shooting too hot. Switched to Palmers which was much more consistent, but couldn't keep up with my Tantrum Chaos on long strings (set at 17). Now I've switched to a Torpedo (the US built, not the Chinese built) and am consistent +/- 2 and I've been very happy with it.

My friend also had creeping problems with a new 03 Glad, and now has switched to a Sidewinder on his Eblade Dye cocker.

Maybe the older ones were better, or maybe we both got stuck with ones that were bad. I realize that many people are happy with theirs, and I still think MacDev is a good company (I use their valve and gauge tools). But I think the newer Glad is a bit more finicky than most.

Oh yes, I do keep my equipment clean, but this is the first reg I've made it a point to clean after every game day (not including the stock BKO LPR)...

Sidewinder would be the best reg right now in the market IMO.

However, MOST aftermarket regs mentioned in this thread should work EXCELLENT.

All regs require some maintenance. It's just a matter of the user making sure everything is clean.

Between all the regs listed, there should be VERY LITTLE difference in consistency as long as the regs are well maintained and paint is good.
