On 8/26/01 I went to some of my buddy's first tourny. Notice i said FIRST. All the teams there had angels and defiants and cockers.......you know the high end stuff. My friends went with there stock Pirahna sts g2 and 2 TL+ and their pride and went out there and cleaned house. Oh yea they had J&J barrels but still. They finished 3rd. See it doesnt take 9 balls a second or whatever to win. It doesnt take thousands of dollars. Just a little heart and practice. wish yall could have been there when a bunch of advanced teams found out they got beat by first timers w/ spyders.
this is what the advance team looked like when they seent he scoring charts ~~~~~>

Actually, the above scenario happens a lot!!!
I think it might be everyone that is on a sponsored teams think they are so awesome and think they are Rambo w/ their 3000 markers...
You know what happens when all 3 players run straight at the other team w/o any cover fire..?
Defeat.. I have witnessed it.. And its funny to see the reactions of the advanced teams when you laugh at them

SPYDAHS FO LIFE!
remember you could go out there with a brass eagle talon and still win, all it takes is one ball to take the out. okay maybe not a brass eagle but dammit, a marker that works.

We did terrible, but it wasn't our markers, it was a lack of skill. We will keep practicing and one day we too will clean house. Heart and practice, baby, right after I finish these here beers!

Tactics and skill first. Upgraded equipment second.
The problem with my team is nobody but me takes care of their markers. One guy dosen't even have oil for his Automag! Another one wonders what the LPR on his LCD Bushy is. :P
It sucks to have one guy go down with a marker problem 10 seconds into a hyperball game.

Those words are music to my ears. I'm going to my first rookie tourney soon, and all we have is a couple of Tippmann 98's and a Spyder Compact 2000 w/ a J&J barrel. But if you have any other advice, let me know.

Team Bad Company plays with Spyders ... they've beaten the SC Ironmean, Ground Zero Gold, Lock Out and the All American's at the NPPL Gambler's Open in Atlantic City.
There's a photo on page 43 of the November issue of PB2X showing a member of Bad Company bunkering a SC Ironman player. It looks like the BC player is using a Spyder SE. There's also a photo of a BC player using a Spyder Xtra with a Centerflag Hyper Frame.

Hey PbSyndicate
Just go and have fun!!!! That's what my team did and we made finals. We weren't expecting to make finals, since we had a hot gun penalty of -50 and a nice big goose egg, so when we did it was cool. But then in the finals we got rolled every game. But hey we were just there for fun. So it was all good. And all of us played with spyders too. One thing that I think is important is don't get mad at other teammates. If you think they did something bad in a game don't get mad at them you weren't in their shoes.

my team ended with like -25 points for a hot gun( shooting liqued co2) but we still got a team elimination on one of the best teams there and we had a great team and learned alot. my friends had a tl+ and a c98 and wedid okfor our first time. its not the gun really its how you play

A Team I played on on Oct. 28 came in like 5th place, (All Spyders, TL+, Regular, and Compact) out of ten, and the last game, we beat a team that had 2 LCD Angels and like a Bushmaster, and we beat them, not cause we're any good, cause we're not really) but cause the people that aren't any good and end up spending 3000 dollars on their guns, and go into games cocky, and they loose. (That might not happen all the time):D

Hey paintballer56, spyders don't suck. I was in my first tourney Sept. 22 and our team got 5th place out of 16 teams. My team had and Xtra, Shutter and Outlaw and we whooped so many people with cockers and electros. I guarantee my Spyder goes down a lot less than most cockers too.;)

Spyders rock. My 5 man team (2 m98s 2 spyders 1 shocker) scrimmaged a team with 3 angels, 1 bushie, and an impulse and we kicked ***. Despite our lack of fire power, everyone on our team has great marksmanship, snap shooting skills, and we have good overall tactics. The other team was good, but their tactics were lacking, and we pulled off the win with 3 guys to spare.

Prove it, show me a site with the tourney ending, and the placements.
You guys all talk about how the high end owners get all cocky, but then you come on here and are all hot stuff, and none of you have proved it.

Go to www.pbnation.com and look under the regional players forum, then midwest, then look for am 3 man @patriot paintball. Team Spydermen played with all spyders. If you need to know more about the tourney ask big red miller he should be able to answer them.

Hey Richy, I can't prove it. The field that had the tourney is just a small local field in Duluth. They have no website or anything. They have a decent sized woods field and 2 speedball/hyperball courses. That's it. I have only played there 4 or 5 times.

Can't prove it either, we haven't been in a tourney yet, just scrimmaged a lot.

Guns dont win games...they help...but they dont win the games...the people behind the gun and their skill is what wins games...weather it be a brass eagle or a Angel...

And again, the age old situation comes up again. I bunker a guy with a spyder using my electro, I'm a diickhead. I play full out against a guy with a spyder, I'm a diickhead. I go easy on the guy with a spyder, he shoots me, and I suck and wasted all my money on a good gun when a guy shooting a spyder can take me out. That's why tournament play is so much better, you don't have to deal with any of the afformentioned crap

yes skill is alot of how good you do but yall people are makin it sound like if you get a spyder your gonna win. i mean if you have two teams with the exact same skill level (hypothetically) one team with spyders and one team with high end electros chances are the electros would win

How old are all of you guys? You act like you are 10. Besides, I would like to see a team with T98s go and take on the AA's or Avalanche. I am sure the Tippmanns would win...j/k. I agree that there are little spoiled kids that think they know how to play because daddy bought them their angel. I have about 6 years of experience and I know that you have to have some skill, but you all think that just because you don't have angel you have to **** on everyone that does. I bet that if you all had the opportunity to buy and Angel you guys would do it. WHY? Because you all think that it will make you better. But hey, if the gun doesn't mean jack **** on how good you are then why get the angel? You all are just jealous of people that have the higher end guns. I am sure that they hand you your asses plenty of times, but you aren't telling us about those times are you?

why does it matter if the guy with the ferrari makes fun of the little rice rocket with $100,000 underthe hood? THe ferrari is still better, mabye the driver of the rice rocket is a better driver. You know who's gona win the race?
It dosn't matter..
Who cares if they make fun of spyders? Everyone makes fun of something. I make fun of a kid in my PE class who is the most physically retarted (not really we just tell him that) person in the world.
It dosnt matter if they make fun of you or not. Why do you care?

I would expect nothing less than for you to play all out. The only time I get upset (and this isn't an equipment scenario) is when those gung ho players start going full bore against little kids with rental equipment. I got really PO'd Sunday against some guys who bunker a bunch of 10 and 11 year olds.

agreed agreed...
but if Twitcho makes fun of my spyder (which I do have) all I have to do is shrug it off and point to the uni-brow, and all is better.
It's just equipment, in a sport you play. not the end of the world.
if someone makes fun of your cup in baseball cuz' it isn't riveted, will you cry? no, just shrug it off.

i like rice rockets.... you could actually get a car like that to go 0-60 in 3.2 sec or fasters because they are lighter so actually its not the same thing as spyder versus electros

Really to me, all the gun choices out there just makes paintball better. I have played against several guns. My team just went to a tourney on Jan.6 and all we have is 3 tricked 98 Customs, we beat some extremely good teams with hi end markers and we also got owned by a few teams with high end markers, to me all the choices of guns out there is great, its a personal preferance thing. I used to have a 2001 Autococker but I sold it to get a 98 Custom, and I have had much more success with the custom. I am not dissing cockers or other high end guns. I could easily get a hi end gun, to me I just like my good old Tippmann, I have fun with it and thats all that matters to me.

Do you have the electronic trigger on your 98? If so it makes your gun an electro and fast. It will keep up with the angels, but a spyder wont.
Platinum4Life
01-16-2002, 07:45 PM
No electronic trigger. But trust me if you shot a Tippmann, the stock trigger is even pretty short. It aint that light, but its short. So if you got strong fingers then you can pull this mutha pretty quick.
Crime Dog
01-17-2002, 05:02 AM
I've got a double trigger on my Tippy M98...and he's right, you can pull that thing pretty quick. I may not shoot like an Angel, but I can shoot fast enough to get myself out of a sticky situation if need be.

LOL! Whatever dude! Where'd you get that information? I've seen lots of Spyders that can shoot as fast, or faster, than Angels. An electronic frame, HPA, a good reg, and a 12v revvy will put you up to 10-12 BPS... add an X-board (or Turbo-Rev) and a warp feed and you're up to 15 BPS. Not only that, it'll cost half as much as an Angel. A Spyder can actually cycle at over 25 times a second, but of course you can't feed balls that fast, or pull the trigger that fast.
BTW, having an electronic trigger does NOT make your marker an electro... it's still a blowback.
DISCLAIMER: I absolutely love Angels so I'm not knocking them, but I also love my Spyder. My friend has a 98 and he likes his.
