i was at walmart the other day and noticed some of their more recent items
along with all the brass eagle and viewloader crap on the shelves they have tippman model 98cs and scott goggles
to top that the has rps paint for 22 bucks for 1000
is it me or does the wal mart name kinda seem cheap and make these products seem less valuable:eyes:

ya, in this sport, walmart is like the apitimiy of bad places to buy paintball supplies. As for those RPS's, they musta been on sale, unless they did in fact drop their prices, I always thought they were around 30. Ya, it does kinda give you that feeling of lesser quality. At my wal-mart, they now have new JT protective gear, along with tippmanns, new blue streak paintballs, and even a couple of Pure Energy tanks. Notice also that if you buy a spyder or tippmann at an actual paintball shop, they come in boxes, at wal-mart, they come in that plastic packaging crap which is so annoying to get apart, to me it does seem a little freaky...

I used to buy Diablo paint from Wal-Mart for about $30 for 1000 but I found out my Pro Shop has 2000 for $40 so I don't have any need to go there for pb stuff anymore.

I think the RPS that Wal-Mart has is the Super Swirl.

I was in walmart trying to destroy it with my list of pranks (the vets appreciate what that means) and I noticed they had RPS Premiums; 1000 for 19.95. I gasped and bought it, but once I got home I remembered my field only uses field paint, so I smacked myself in the head and had to sweet talk the old lady at the return desk to get my money back.

A wallie mart by my place actually sells compressed air tanks (Java) and they fill compressed air, also they sell jt stuff, gloves and gear bags. I was shocked when i went there and saw that stuff.

man my wally world just plain sucks. they have old as dirt model 98 power packs. the best quality mask they have is a jt headshield. its mostly talons and blades. the paint they sell is called blue streak and it comes free with a broken ball in every box. and you know the place really sucks when the guy working there asks YOU questions.

my wal mart still sells crap, zap, brass eagle and VL guns, only afterburner viewloader zap and this blue streak paint, they also sell a ton of other things at inflated prices, like a squegee for $15cdn or a 9ozfor $45cdn, kinda sad considering i got my 20oz with on/off for $50cdn, my local canadian tire has better selection, more selection of paint and they sell JT gloves, masks, paint, guns, and pretty much the same as wal mart just a few cents pricier. for some reason i'd take my canadian tire over wal mart anyday. paint is pretty expensive at each thoughi get my paint for woods ball from a pro shop, $22 for 500, which is a good deal in canada (damn canadian currency), i duno if its like that everywhere in canada prolly just here

They have a guy that has 6 years experience at my walmart. Except he doesn't work in sporting goods, he works in housewares. They are selling pmi 20oz co2 tanks and rps advantage now. Haven't tried it yet because my outlaw field sells venom for $40 a case. Diablo dusk is the best so far as I know. Super swirl is incredibly accurate, but way too hard.

Well I for am glad about Wal-Mart and their paintball policy. So before you guys freak out, here's why....
Their Gear is getting better as they try to compete in the PB market. Remember when all they had where those floppy BE masks? Now they are carring masks by JT that at least offer real protection.
Their markers are getting better. They still sell blades and talons but they now carry markers that give beginning players a chance at the local fields. So Wal-mart provides a low cost yet effective starting place for PB. A kid can by an Avenger (or what ever their called) take it to the field and not get to seriously out gunned by more expensive markers. So they bridge the gap between back yard markers like the Blade and field grade markers.
Buying power... No one can argue the purchasing power Wal-mart has. With the money Wal-mart has to put in to PB more companies will form or expand to try and take that money. This means more competion in the market and lower prices for us, because even the guys that don't get Wal-mart contracts will still sell there products to sporting good chains or on-line businesses. They (the company) made an investment in PB, they didn't get the big "Wally world" contract but they can still get a return on that investment by sell to smaller businesses.

Personally, I think having paintball stuff at Walmart would be great for most kids. I mean it gives you the opportunity to say "hey mom I want/need that" if you're ever shopping there with your folks. It's not like they'll ever be pushing a shopping cart around your local pro shop with their check book/credit card in hand at your disposal. And with most paintballers between the ages of 12-17 and lacking any real money of their own, every little accessory helps.

I'm just afraid that in a couple years they'll realize how lucrative the paintball industry can be and start running local proshops bankrupt. The shops around me are struggling as it is.

who knows maybe wal mart could really crush local pro shops if they opened up an indoor field on the premises, so then they get all the noobs in the area

I seriously doubt that wal mart would ever even consider opening a paintball field...

Our walmart is starting to get decent markers, like Spyder Extras, and they even have a couple of Imagines, and the new VL Electronic thinger. Alot better then the old Sumaris, Talons, and Blades they had just a year ago.

In many cases Wal Mart or sporting goods stores are the only source of paintball people have. Not everyone has pro shops or local fields with a shop. And my Wal Marts / sporting goods stores have everthing, Marbs, premiums, cheap paint, cheap guns, cheap equipment, some nice guns once in a while, alot of spyders, some even good, yet over priced.
