The other day I took my recently aquired Mag to my local shop and just asked if there was anything I should know that I didn't already. Well the first thing he said, and this was the first thing I had done, was not to shorten the trigger pull. Does anyone know about this? Can it really affect my gun? Where can I get a new sear if I have to get another one? He said that when you unscrew the trigger rod it messes up the apex and thus the pivot point of the sear and that can affect the catch the sear has on the bolt. Actually I sort of deduced that myself, he just said don't mess with it and I already had. Oh yeah, I didn't tell him.

never shorten the tigger rod, filing the sear may help, check mag owner groups

your lucky that yu have a guy at your shop that knows what he is talking about. The guys at my local place are mostly clueless.

Your shop guy was correct. If you shorten the trigger pull, the sear will not be able to fly engage the bolt. Over time, this will cause the sear to wear. If the sear wears to the point where it cannot fully catch the bolt, you will have unstopable runaway full auto.

Turn your trigger rod back out to it's original position. If you do not remember where it was, follow this procedure.-

For safety, degass the gun.
Pull the rod as far forward as you can.
Turn the trigger rod out as far as it will go until it pushes the triggger forward, touching the trigger.
Back the trigger rod out a couple of turns, until there is a visisble gap.
Point the gun in a safe direction and regass the gun. Inspect it and make sure you still have a gap between the trigger and the rod.

If you have the proper tools to measure it, just remove it from the gun and adjust the length to1.985" measured from the Flat back of the sear to the front of the rod

All you do is take the trigger frame off and then take some vice grips and unscrew the rod. You can get some seriously fast bursts, it hasn't done anything to my gun yet but it sounds like it can eventually.
