Impulse bps?

I was told that a basic Impulse could not shoot above 12 balls per second unless u had a vision board. Is this true? I want to get one but if thats as fast as it shoots i would pitch in more to get a vision but is it necessary to shoot that fast?:confused: :confused: :devil: :biglaugh:

The new boards are all capped at 20, vision or not. The older boards, (before march of 03) are capped at 13 vision or not.

Is that a fact? I've heard crickets are capped at 14 and visions are 20. Just what I heard though, you may very well be right.

Dayamn kids both of you are right but the new ones are all capped at 20, so thats the one you would get if you bought a newer impy today.

i heard the ones with the blue light on the back are capped at 20, and if you out shoot it it will beep, so if it is capped at 13.7, i kno i would of outshooten mine, but i've never heard a beep!

Once again, all Cricket boards before March '03 are 13.7 vision off, 20 vision on. All Cricket boards after March '03 are 20bps vision on or off.

i dont think the non vision boards are capped at 20bps. i have an 03 rat and im pretty sure its capped at 13.7bps unless i can hit 20 bps easily.

when did u get ur 03 rat?
and if its a non vision wouldnt it be 13.7 cuz the eye is permanently off? or is it at 20bps? and he may have gotten it before march 03

The OLD ONEs (B4 cricket) Had a ROF pot on the board. this was labled as "Semi". This could be adjusted, but there was no "calibration" on it-- that is you didn't know where it was set. The resion for the cap was the hoppers we were using at the time. By having a cap the board would ingnore "trigger bounce" and prevent chopping. It was adjustable so players with faster hoppers could shoot faster. The max rate of fire on these older boards was not the same from board to board- just like the dwell setting was not the same from board to board. We found they "maxed out' in the 22-23 / sec range- but some were as low as 17.

Because a lot of prople were going to "low rises" on their guns, SP decided to "cap" the non vision crickets at 13.7 when they first brought them out. Note that this is a SOFTWARE cap- something that can be changed with a PC interface. Unfourtanly SP chooses not to allow anyone outside of the factory to have access to the software. This ment that you could have your boards "reprogramed" but only by SP. (there is atleast one priviate programer doing this- and his software adds a number of fuctions which actuly make the boards illegal for turny play)

Early this spring, the custom Impulses (private lable) started getting non-vision boards with a 20 bps cap. at first this was done as a "reprogram request" and later as a production run. Most recently SP has set the cap up to 20 bps for all Impulses. Of course we see more people chopping paint now (without vision) but this is normaly a fuction of the hopper.

So... If you buy a new Impulse NOW (that was made in the last couple of months) it will have a max rof cap of 20. If you buy a used impulse with non vision, it MAY be caped at 13.7

Ofcourse if you bought a new Impulse that had been sitting on someon's shelf for a while, there is no way to know what it is caped at.

I thought that was clear-- recently MANUFACTURED impulses will all have 20 bps boards. But to give an example, I was at a field/store Yesterday- and looked at the Impulse on their wall. that gun had a serial number of 13,000 (but was was a "new" gun) I just looked at one on my wall and it has a 25,600 serial number. My new gun has the 20 bps board-- his "new" gun does not.
