Well for 600 you could probable get a base impulse and the other stuff. I know the impulse would cost about 400-450. It is a fairly good marker for someone new to the sport because it is easy to maintain. I know a couple of people with them that dont even clean them very good and they still shoot well. If you want to go a little cheaper get a spyder flash lcd or electra. Both good markers and good for beginers. The impulse will take you from beginer to tournies. Or you can go for a cocker and slowly build it but I wouldnt recomend it unless you have someone around that knows a good bit about them to coach you on it. All in all it just depends on how far you think you will get into the game. If you never plan on going past playing with your friends I would get a spyder but if you plan on going further get the impulse.

If you're new to the sport... don't spend $600 on a marker package. IMO, you'd be better off starting with a Spyder or Tippmann, because they're cheaper (in case you decide paintball isn't your thing), easier to maintain (no 3ways or solenoids), and a lot of people have them or have had them, so if something goes wrong, you'd probably be able to get help from a friend.
So, here's what I'd buy:
Spyder Imagine [if you want electro] or Tippmann 98 [for a good mech gun]
A good mask [this is the most important thing; not only for safety, but if you can't see, you can't shoot people], such as a JT Flex7 or Proflex
An Empire Reloader
A 20oz CO2 tank, which you should get Anti-Siphoned at your local proshop after you get your marker.
An upgraded barrel, such as the CP 1 piece for around $40, or a Dye Ultralite for around $80.
If you feel it's necessary after playing a few times, get a pack as well, but I don't feel that's worthwhile to buy right off the bat.
Or, if you're really looking into getting a higher end gun for your first marker, I'd suggest an Automag, because it offers the simplicity and durability of the above markers, but offers the performance of a higher end gun. I'd get this:
68 Automag
Intelliframe
Level 10
Empire Reloader
Same barrel/tank choices as above.
But as a note, you're far better off buying an Automag used than new. Check around the B/S/T forums here, at pbnation.com, automags.org, and the classifieds at paintballclassifieds.com
Hope I helped.

Don't get a really expensive gun to start, I would suggest a black dragun package, but if you want to spend more get and automag, they are hard to break, and very reliable, perfect for a newbie, if you look on ebay you cna find complete automag packages going for 300-400 bucks

What tony said used mag packages = :D, and empire reloader is a good hopper, and fro a mask I'd sya get a v-force or a higher end JT mask.

Wow, don't even bother.
8 oz bottle.
Crappy goggles.
Non-aggy hopper, on an electro gun.
You're better off customizing your own package.

If I were you, I would get a mini mag. Don't spend all of your money at once, because you still have to buy paint. What ever money you hjave left over, you should spend on paint and feild fees to go paintballing, unless your rich and have money coming in any ways, go crazy.

12" SP Tear Drop -- $45
Bottom line -- $20
Centerflag 68/45 HPA -- $185
Rico 2k hopper -- $68
Level 10 bolt -- $50(i think)

get a mag, good hopper (empire reloader or better), crossfire tank, any high end mask and you should be set. (dont buy a spyder or a tippmann or any other low-end blowback for that matter. you'll regret it later when you realized you had 600$ to spend...)

This is a great set up. It is cheap and you can upgrade it with left over money when you play a little. I take back what I said before, you are new, and need a gun that suit you.

If you totally new to the sport of paintball, the best thing to do if you want to become a good player is to just go out and play paintball. It's quite expensive to go out and play often. You'll exaust your $600 pretty quickly if you don't have more money to spend or support from your parents.
You can check out my 2 guns I'm selling here (http://www.pbreview.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1452708#post1452708) .
Jt package-$75
cocker package-$600

if you're a newbie, you're not gonna need an electro. if you do use it, it won't be used to its full potential. I suggest getting...
Tippmann 98 custom marker (reliable, upgradeable)
JT Flex-7 mask (comfortable)
PMI Pure energy 20 oz. CO2 tank (reliable company, good capacity)
PMI 2 pod pack (you don't need a huge pack if you're a newbie)
PMI 200 round loader (tippmanns probably won't outshoot a gravity feeding hopper)
Nothing fancy, just something to get you started off on. Also, it definitely won't cost you over 600. maybe use the rest on upgrades for your tippy.

or just spend the rest of the money to play and get better.

it's not so much newbies being incapable of using electros well as it's just me hating electros.
It depends on whether or not he's sure he'll stick with the sport. If he buys a tippmann or something like that, he won't have wasted too money if he doesn't like paintball. If he gets a freakin' impulse, he will be out quite a bit more.
and that ends the babble portion of the post. ok. now, as for him using an electro to its full potential, newbies normally don't immediately join up with a team and go to tourneys and whatnot right away. They tend to play recball. And if you play recball, you don't typically need high ROFs, you need to aim. So, you CAN get an electro if you feel the need, but IMO you'd save on paint and whatnot if you got a cheaper semi.

then that's your opinion and shouldn't be stated as a fact like you did earlier.
he could always sell it
now i'm convinced you don't know what you're talking about. you need to aim in every aspect of the game, tourny, woods, rec, etc. a high rate of fire will help your chances of eliminating someone. the only thing you've said that makes sense is that a cheaper semi will help conserve paint. you really need to get your facts straight.

Well on one side i think everyone should start off wit a spyder or tippman getting into the sport..........but thats how i started and now that i think about it i would have been alot happier if i would have bought a highend gun right off........just something to think about........

I agree, If I could redo my buying decisions I would have gotten a really cheep used spyder to start, played a little, then spent alot of money on a great gun.

id reccomend tippmann 98 custom, 20 oz co2, some jt goggles, 12v revy if u want to, but its not necessary, a new barrel wouldnt hurt, and thats all you need for starters, still leaving you with 300 or so bucks to save for a hpa system, paint, or a higher end gun in the future.
