It makes the Armson look like a pinto!!! It's a Tippamn 98 Sniper and it looks so hot!!! It says that it's the best out there for sniping, but that can still be argued. It might have the looks, but does it have the preformance of the Armson? That is what I am looking for, preformance, not looks. Anyway, check it out. If anyone has first hand expieriance, I'd like to hear about it. It's like four hundred (ouch!!!) but I'm thinking it won't cost a whole lot to upgrade an all b/c it's alreayd a high level gun. But yeah, any input would be nice. Umm, the only problem I can think of is that I've never actually field stripped my gun, so mayube I should stick with a simple gun like the Armson. Oh, and if anyone thinks I'm one of those rich kids who will have their moms and dad's buy them a high-level gun, I worked my butt off al summer in the heat mowing lawns, cleaning gutters, walking dogs, and digging holes in my yard for a power cable to run through from our house to the shed. I'm not rich, just work hard. Not like I'm saying that you think I'm rich, just syaing this for anyone who wonders why a novice would buy a high-level sniper rifle. I'm good at the game I think. I've only played seventeen games.

Novices don't buy "sniper rifles", they buy Angels :D . NO MORE SNIPER TALK, SNIPERS DON'T EXIST IN PAINTBALL.
I'm not sure which gun you're talking about..is it a Model 98 w/ Flatline barrel?

long range riflemen. Basically, I am a guy with a long-range weapon trying to etend the range of the average team. That's about it. But yeah, that's the gun.

god damn, we got like 3 new morons in here talking about sniping

please stop talking about sniping!!! its a fantasy, there is NO sniping in paintball. if you really want to talk about the closest thing to sniping then learn about stock class (pump markers operating off 12g and they only have like 15 balls on the marker). stock class takes a lot of skill because of the small amout of firepower you have. if you want a really nice "sniper" marker then visit www.phantomonline.com they sell some of the best pumps that money can buy. plus you can get 3 camo colors, real tree, urban camo, and green acid (not really a camo but looks like it)

I'm not a sniper per say, I'm just an average guy who will stalk you and wiat for you. I just use and old, out-dated weapon. That's all. I'm a guerilla. Not a sniper, a guerilla. I want to buy the Tippman 98 Sniper. Is it a good gun, or a bad one? Answer the question, that's all I want to know. No offense or anything, I just wanted to know about a really cool gun.

hey if you want you can even get a pump marker called the sniper, and if you want to make it a semi-auto all you need to buy is a set of autococker pnuematics and hook them up.

its called the sniper 2 and its made by WGP

here it is: http://store.yahoo.com/acepb/26-002.html

only $220 too :D

thanks chris and sorry about that i dident know it said yards...the sniper 2 is a very good gun, but its not considered a pump marker so you cant enter pump only tournys with it...and its really nice to make it a semi but it cost alot of $...just buy a autococker

how is it not a pump marker? it is a pump marker, that is why there is the pump arm.

what it is not is a stock class marker. but you can do some mods to it and make it stock class, all you need to add is a 12g quick changer and stock class loader, which would prolly cost around $50 for all the parts.

Actually, there are snipers in paintball! I'll explain in another thread I plan on making which should end this entire stupid debate of ignorance.

First of all, i don't know what you are doing in paintball using weopons. I much prefer using markers, much less painful.

They are not weopons, they are more along the lines of sports equipment. I will not stand for paintball being referanced and associated w/war, so please discontinue those statments. And the tippman is not truly highend.

I'm not a snipe,r I'm a stalker. I like stalking people and then taking my shot. I commit sniperlike actions okay? I want a gun that would support stuff like that. I like to hide and use camouflage and that is just the way I play.

Wow. It seems like all of you people in here claiming to be "snipers" or "long ranged riflemen" or "stalkers" have an incredible arrogance that basically shuts people out to whatever you have to say before you even get to make your point. Ease up, and spare us the mock humility. Anyway, there are some things I would like to point out to you, and I hope the truth (mixed in with my personal opinion) doesn't sting too badly.

First of all, there is no such thing as a long ranged paintball gun, excluding of course the 98 Flatline and the Z body. I know, there are many many many people out there who would argue otherwise, but to put it simply, they are wrong. Among the things that could affect the distance the ball will travel, there are a few that a paintball gun would be able to affect. These include:
1. Velocity
2. Spin (back- or otherwise)
3. Trajectory (as in the angle of the shot)

Other things that could affect distance are controlled by the outside environment or the balls themselves, and so do not apply to the concept of a long ranged gun.

Question: What will shoot farther (assuming same paint, same outside conditions, same shot angle, and no crazy accidental spin on the balls), a Shocker with 16" SP barrel shooting 299 fps, a Free Flow Autococker with 12" Boomstick shooting 299, an ACI Phantom with all the fixin's shooting 299, or a stock Minimag with 8" stock barrel shooting 299?

Answer: Well, lets go back to the things that can affect your distance (notice that closed-bolt and low pressure are not among them).

Shocker: Velocity - 299 Spin: None Trajectory: X
Cocker: Velocity - 299 Spin: None Trajectory: X
Phantom: Velocity - 299 Spin: None Trajectory: X
Minimag: Velocity - 299 Spin: None Trajectory: X

By X, of course, I mean that it could be any given number, but that they are all the same number for each gun. So, where is the magical factor that lets one gun shoot farther than another? 299 is the fastest that you can legally shoot. There are only two guns out there that utilize backspin, only one of which is at all popular, and that one suffers somewhat in the accuracy department (not to mention the fact that any other gun can shoot just as far, although it would need extra arc to do so). The only variable that you really have any control over is the trajectory, and it's just as easy to aim an open bolt semi skyward as it is a pump or closed bolt semi.

In short, sniper, stalker, long ranged marksman, hunter, etc., are terms that just don't apply to paintball. Your definition of sniper would include almost every player who doesn't want to lose, and every soldier who doesn't want to die. There are no long ranged paintball guns, and therefore no long ranged paintball marksmen. I think you would get a lot more respect, which you probably even deserve, if instead of saying "I am a sniper, I hunt down my human prey and am invisible", you would just say something like, "I do the scouting for my team when I play woods ball", or "I can lay one mother ****** of an ambush".

All I have to say is "D@MN" can you people not get along for 2 minutes? SNIPERS DON"T EXIST IN STANDARD PAINTBALL! If you read the "Rules of a Sniper" in APG then you are twice mistaken. APG is for newbies only. The only reason to read it anymore is for the ads and product reviews. Snipers ONLY exists in big game/24 hour scenarios.
