Which Rat? They all come with Freaks except the Rat JR. Either way, I prefer the Freak.

yeah if your getting an 03 rat it will already come with a freak barrel. I havent used a pipe before but i havent had any problems with my freak barrels.

If you are buying a gun that comes with the freak, of course, the freak.

BUT if you are buying one and chooseing between the two. THEN if you have 1 gun, go pipe. If you have more then one, go freak.

I woudl have to go with the Freak (since I already have one myself) over the Pipe. One thing I will give the Pipe over the Freak is its ability to clean itself after a ball break. It takes maybe 2-3 shots to clean itself while the Freak has to use a squeege or somethign to get it right again (personal experiences).

not true you can shoot through it and clean out the freak mine does atleast, it won't be as accurate as if it were nice and clean inside with no paint residue

That was kinda my point though... I can fire thru my Freak after a ball break and still get it somewhat on target, but the Pipe basically cleans itself most of the way to get the accuracy back. I guess it has something to doue with the porcelin lining or something like that. I dont know for sure if it is a porcelin lining, but it sure has the feel of it and looks like it too.

The Pipe is a 2-piece barrel like the Freak, but they dont offer it for as many markers yet as the Freak. The Freak has more bore size choices too. The Pipe has 5 or 6, while the Freak has 8. With the Freak you can buy either the AA or Freak (Teardrop) tips at 3 different lengths and each fit the same back, but the Pipe has just three choices and you have to buy it in a specific bore size. Each have their pros and cons, but I would go with the Freak overall.

yes, the freak has more backs and bore sizes, but: its harder ot clean when you break, the inserts wear down after awhile, you don't need all those bore sizes; i doubt your Field has that much different paint to chose from. the pipe breaks less balls, and the pipe is better quality; smother, more accurate, alot harder ot break. go with the pipe dude. you'll love it.

dude go with the pipe i was unsure also but the thing is awesome. I was shooting diablo dust on my RJR impulse with a 14" pipe next to a guy with an angel with a cp two piece pro barrel and shooting tourny paint. the pipe was shooting just as accurate with less quailty paint. people will tell you that it is also loud, it is not that loud. plus the shoot clean feature is nice (hope i don't have to use it any time soon.) It was shooting straight and now you can buy just the tips so for the price of a ss freak you could have a pipe with two different length tips. and there is my two cents.

This belongs in the barrel forum... Mods in here don't do much.

Go for the pipe.

go with your stock barrel and save $200 :D that is my honest recomendation. I had a pipe, and tested that with the correct back for the paint against my stock barrel with the same paint, wasnt too impressed. But I do like how the pipe cleans itself out of a break, so if thats worth the money to you, go for it.

heres what you should do-don't matter how many guns you have...buy a 12'' and/or 14'' freak barrel with a stainless back(soon to come stainless front)then buy the new stainless freak insert kit (just came out a few days ago)

then ur all set

i disagree...as many people would agree with me...accuracy doesnt matter on the barrel its paint to barrel match and unless your stupid and put too small of an insert neither of the barrels are going to break more that the other

I agree, i'd take the scepter over both these barrels. Like the Freak, you can use it on more than one marker, like the pipe, it cleans it self out after breaks. And did I mention it sells for 140 with 5 inserts at www.firstcallpaintball.com meaning its also cheaper too.

SCEPTOR!! BEST BORE KIT THERE IS

Ya know... I have yet to actually see the Scepter kit. Actually this is the first I have really heard about it since Skyball and IAO. I might have to check it out and see what I can find out about it. I am guessing a few people already have it?? How does it work??

Butcherbeard

i had a chance to look at both and I picked the scepter because its easier to use, there are no orings to hold it in place, and inserts looked and felt sturdier. As for how it shoots its been great with all the paint Ive used. Evil, Diablo, marbs, even crappy 32degrees... Try it you might be suprised.
