I heard that some spyder parts don't work with it. I am looking for an x-chamber and a drop foward for now but I will try it.

I was looking into this marker as well. I read so many good reviews about 3.0, but know one in the sf bay area knows anything about it. i emailed JT customer service and they told me the only thing upgradable is the barrel. i dont know if that goes for the 4.0 as well. here is his email addr if you want to contact him. hope this helps.

in order to add a exp. chamber and add a drop forward, you'll need:
*Spyder Vertical Adapter (Lapco works best since it's tapered. some vert adapters won't fit since the grip is so close to where the adapter screws in)
*Drop forward with Spyder holes (Lapco, In Yo Face, NW Spoon), or you can use any drop forward if you buy a spyder to inline hole adapter.
*New bottom-line ASA and macro-line hose kit. Notice how the stock bottom-line steel hose is real short? add a drop forward, and you're looking at a real tight space to work with. macro-line works nicely since the shortest steel-braided line is 3". As for a new ASA, the stock ASA has metric threads... so you could actually buy an adapter, but might as well buy a lower profile ASA.
*expansion chamber of your choice.

I did the same with my 3.0, except I'm using a macdev gladiator reg instead of an expansion chamber. also, I'm using madmann spyder main spring (blue/mid velocity) and replaced the allen velocity adj. screw with a thumb adjuster for a spyder. notice how many times i've said spyder already?

as for internals, i also talked to a jt rep before and he told me the same... just the barrel, as far as he knew. they're probably just denying that their markers are spyder clones for whatever reason. i took my marker to paintball paradise in sf. me and the owner broke the gun down and he came to the conclusion that spyder parts will work (bolt, valve, etc.)... but the best way to find out is switch up some parts with a buddy that has a spyder and see what happens, which i haven't done yet.

so why am i hopping up a 3.0? it's my first marker... new toys and hobbies are always fun. it may not be much, but you gotta start somewhere. i just like the feel of the marker in my hands compared to a spyder. besides, my regulator will transfer over nicely to the 'cocker i'm gonna eventually get...

Thanks for the info. I myself like the feel better than that of a spyder. Me girlfriend and two of my other friends also have spyders and they even like the JT better.

what should i get the jt 4.0 or the 3.0

lil_green_guy

it depends...

the jt 4.0 has all the extra features right out of the box... regulator, exp. chamber, drop fwd. it's the best deal compared to other markers with the same features.

but if you plan on upgrading the parts anyways, go with the 3.0. why spend the extra for the 4.0 if you're just gonna replace those parts anyways?

i got the 3.0 cuz i knew i'd be addin stuff to it... stuff that i'll be carrying over to my next marker one of these days... plus i just like chrome over black...

What would it take to start a forum for the JT Excellerator? I just picked up a 4.0. Does anybody have instructions on take it apart? Also I wanna replace the take-down pin with something like what they have on autocockers. Anybody know a good source?
