How much does this matter? Just curious I have a Tippmenn 98 customa nd looking at some balls that are .685 Cal but my gun says it is .68 will that break a ton of balls?

to answer your question, the measurements on your paintball is just more exact then whats on the barrel.
paintballs and barrels are measured very very exact to get the ultimate paint to barrel match, therefore leading to better accuracy.
the sizes are divided into small(around .683), medium(around .687), and large bore paintballs(.690+), each one fitting into the barrel of the same size better, and leading to more accuracy because of the better fit
example...
small to small
medium to medium
large to large

i highly doubt your custom 98 barrel will chop using .685 size paintballs, running of memory i think that the barrel is around .693, so the chances of you breaking are slim, because the ball isnt being squeezed inside the barrel.

sniper pretty much nailed it. just know that .68 is not very specific as paintball diameters and barrel bores are most often measured with 3 numbers. tippy stock barrels are fairly large bore, so you shouldn't have many ball break problems unless you're using huge/crappy paint ;)

Oh yeh and the 98 custom barrel is really that big? dang...didn't realize ever.
