View Full Version : Horrible efficiency

I'm really confused right now. I've been having efficiency problems ever since I installed the Rat Factory internals w/ the RIP valve. I only get about 600 shots out of my anti-siphon 20oz tank. Before the internals were put in I was getting well over 1,000. I've tried different pressure and dwell settings, but nothing seems to work. Currently my dwell is set at about 1 o'clock (green-amber board) and my pressure is at about 160. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

i never had to ajust my dwell so the dwell is on the back cap on the old ones right

No the dwell is a little dial (on the old boards) that is under a rubber cover on the right hand side of the gun.
The key to efficency is a fraily high input pressure and a short dwell.
If you are running at 160 now, you realy shouldn't be getting that bad of efficency.
The first place i would look is for LEAKS. Take the gun in to a real quit room, air it up and lisen for leaks. next mix up some water and soap (or us some "mr bubble") and put the soapy water on anywaher there is a fitting or screw.
I'm going to bet you can find a leak somewhere.
Next set the gun up to 180 psi, and shoot over a chrno. Adjust the dwell until you get around 280 fps. Don't guess- set the pressure and measue the speed.
Also be aware that when you dry fire, you use about 2X as much air as when you shoot paint.

Yeah, it's prolly a combination of too low input pressure, wrong dwell setting, or like FOM said, a leak. adjusting any of these three will prolly help out in some way shape or form

I'm not sure if yours has it or not. Mine is a 2002 impy. For me the cover is on the right hand side of the gun in about the same place as the on/off switch , but on the other side.

I checked for leaks and at first couldn't find any. Then I just let my gun sit while it was aired up and after about 3.5 hours I had lost 20 psi, so I do have a small leak. I think its coming from the macroline fitting. Would this small of a leak be able to hurt my efficiency that bad though?

well depends on how long u play... i mean i got a small leak myself too... but i left it in for 2 nights and my tank originally had 3500psi after 2 nights it became around 2800. :drop:
i was like WHAT???? but yea try replacing that macroline, thats probably the problem with mine... i played 2 senarios with it and it gets rough up in that mountain.

I'll probably replace the macroline and see if that helps. Thanks.

Replacing the macroline didn't help so it must be something else.
