Okay, let me start off by saying that I have never played speed-ball, and I do not think I ever will. I only play "woods" ball, so that is a major factor in choosing a barrel. I think I have narrowed my choices down to either the Smart Parts TearDrop Barrel, or the J&J Ceramic. I use Powerball, and it is a medium (.689-.691 ) bore. I cannot change the brand I use...I need to buy a barrel to fit the paint. Now the SP TearDrop is a medium (.689) bore, and I don't know what the J&J is a (bore-wise). While accuracy is of greatest importance, it would be nice to be able to elimenat someone without the playing field knowing where I am. :) Which, in your opinion, should I purchase?

Oh, it is for a Pro/Carbine....:goody:

tear-drops are good, shoot powerball paint well, and they are quiet for woods play. go for the teardrop.

How much are you willing to spend on a barrel. I would suggest Lapco bigshot, Custom products one piece, 32 degrees terminator and theres alot more toher barrels, but The teardrop Is pretty good to...

I have spent many hours researching barrels. But, althougth I have heard that the BigShot is the most accurate, it is also the loudest. I really think that silence is of the essence in woods ball. Don't you?

I dont mind at all about loudness, just as long as its accurate. I would recommend this barrel to anyone, and also the custom products one piece. :)

I play lots of woods and speedball and dont care to much about loudness.

Two for the TearDrop, one for the BigShot, and none for the J&J. Any more? Thanks!

 Go for the Smart Parts. Also the All American is a great barrel.

Okay, so that makes three for the TearDrop, one for the BigShot, and none for the J&J...I think I am seeing a definite preference.

You should ask prokchop about his bigshot..He brags on it to much ;) But I agree the tear drop is awesome also. But its all a matter of personal preference...

Hmm...just wanted to ask if the TearDrop would even fit in the Pro/Carbine because of the Front Grip? Anybody? I know that it is made for the Pro-Lite, so it will fit the threads...but the Front Grip?:|

Smart Parts is your best choice if you want quietness and excellent accuracy. The JJ Ceramic seems to me like a step lower than the sp teardrop.

Bigshot!

I got one, and really like it. the first day I played with it I did so awesome, it was great. the second day it didn't do much, but that was my fault.

Once I get a better paint match I also expect it to shoot a little farther.

Right now it shoots perfectly straight, but It drops down after a while. I know that's normal, but it's doing it a little more than it should.

SO GET THE BIGSHOT.

AND it is not loud, (by my standards). but I have one of the new ones. anyone know if there is any difference between the new bigshot and the old?

Thanks,,

GO BIG.... Go BIGSHOT...

your SP barrel is great for Powerball! I used to have an medium bore AA, (same bore as the medium teardrop) and powerball with the medium bore SP barrel shot like a dream!!!!!

I highly recommend going with the SP

Thanks, I think I will go with the SP TearDrop. All of you guys who suggested the BigShot, well, that is the barrel I was considering...but I really do want quiet by my standards...and that is a whisper. That means that, finally, when I flank and shoot two people out, (deep in enemy territory) I won't have the enire force of the enemy to deal with, plus my own guys, who think that I am the enemy becuase I am on the wrong side...sheesh. :) Thanks again!

Yes, thanks for asking. I got the Bigshot, and I am pleased with its performance. Thanks for asking, though.

I believe the Pro/Carbine uses the same foregrip as the later Pro-lites (the earlier Pro-lites as well as the even earlier Pro/Am's had various different fore grips which Tippmann changed/improved from time to time). The 68-Carbine had a mini feed neck without the foregrip.
The major differences between the Pro/Carbines and Lites are that the Pro/Carbine has a different valve and a 45 trigger grip.

OK OK....HAVE ANY OF YOU EVER USED A j&j CERAMIC. fiRST OF LEMME STATE THAT I HAD, AND STILL hAVE FOR THAT MATTER A J&J ceramic. actually i have 2...one for my spyders, and one for my cockcer. I will tell you right now out of all the barrels ive shot, the ceramic will quiet your gun down the most. its like a silencer. and its sooo cheap! And it is balls on accurate. Just as accurate as anyother high end barrel such as the boomstick or ultralight.....and i have shotten all the sp barrels except for a freak....i like the looks... but the truth from me is that the teardrop is a borderline barrel....it looks great... but performance wise...its not all that accurate...and not too quite... they are good barrels just in no means are they better than a J&J for woods or whatever you play....and if youmust have another plus for the J&J...the rumor that a J&J ceramic can shoot through breaks is 100% true...no need for that squeegie anymore:) so for me J&J all the way:tup:

That comment really got to me. I was going after a Teardrop, but now that I've read ECB's statement, I'm seriously considering a Ceramic. I don't care if the barrel is loud; I like loud, even in Woodsball. I just need the most accurate barrel possible, and this guy convinced me.

1st off i'd like to say that in paintball, of any kind even woods ball is not about being quiet. I mean you can be, just as long as you don't fire your gun. But any barell, some loud, some quiet, your position will be given away. People see the balls, people see you, and people hear your gun (no matter what the barrel)
But now onto the teardrob vs the j&j. I'm not expert on the tear, but my firend has one and it doesn't commpare to the j&j. They're both medium bore barrels, but if you breakk a ball in the tear drop, for whatever reason w/o a swab, you're messed up. The ceramic however has been advertised as basiocaly self cleaning and i can vouch for it. I used to break pleanty of balls short-stroking my cocker when i 1st got it, and i just shot 2-3 balls through the paint and i was shooting strait again. Also the j&j is cheaper, so if it don't woork out, u still have $$.
