Hi, I just have a quick question. Should I buy a steel braided bottom line setup or a Macro line bottom line. I heard that you need to replace the macro line once and a while. I can buy the macro lines for 15 bucks, ten dollars cheaper than steel braided. The macro line setup comes with three lines. Which would be better.
Thanxs a ton.

There is nothing wrong with macro lines. Although some people are a bit skeptical when it comes to which one you want to run on your gun. The best thing about the Macro lines is that you can adjust the lenth to what every size you need. it's easy to connect, and disconect.
I myself use em, and have no problems at all.

macroline. easier to work with
Steel has a larger diameter than microline and macroline. So, steel has a higher flow rate. So, it's very possible to starve your gun using micro and macroline.
The only good thing about mirco and macro is that the two are easy to work with.

over all the best choice in durablility, and air flow is going to be Steel Braided lines, because they have a larger ID, and can handle up to what... around 3000psi or so (output pressure from your tank)
As for versatility, the Macro is the best of both worlds. not as small of a ID as micro, but just as flexible. It can be made to your liking. I'm constantly taking off my df, and switching to another df. so Macro works fine for me, and I have not encountered any real problems.
Are you running on Co2? If you are pushing Co2, it would be safer to actually go for the steel braided line. In fact I recommend going for the steel, if your a Co2 user, just to be on the safe side.

Macroline is good because you can easily adjust the length which is good if you get a new drop forward or ex. chamber etc. If you have a setup you are going to keep for a while I would say go with the steel braid. I have macroline and sometimes I get leaks from where they connect into the gun and I hate leaks.
Silent Knight said it would be safer to use steel braid than macroline with co2  Why is that? I use co2 with my macroline. What's the prob with that combination?

I also used to use my macro lines with Co2. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condemning Macro line usage, I'm just stressing the issue of saftey here. Like I've stated before, steel braided lines are strong, so strong they can handle upwards of 3000psi (out put pressure) Micro line can handle around 1000psi, and Macro line is a little more then that. However you forget that Co2 is temperature sensitive. You know what happens when you leave your Co2 in the sun!!?? especially in 100 degree weather? In case your wondering, yes I have seen macro line break more often on Co2, then HPA.
I'm sure some of you play like that. The fact is, it's dangerous. I didn't say that it was impossible, and it can't be done. And who knows, you probably don't play in that type of invironment! you can do it if you want to, it's up to you. I'm not your parent but, Just realize that there is a slight risk.
Yeah, steel can withstand higher pressures than macroline. But, I myself haven't ever seen any instances where macroline has ruptured. Not saying it can't, and won't, happen. Just saying it's not something that happens everyday.
It shouldn't be that dangerous to use macroline, just be careful. Like Silent already said, Co2 has the ability to reach a considerably high pressure if it gets hot enough. So, just be careful.

If you DO go with steel braided hose (my preference) and need to know a length, check out http://www.countypaintball.com/hosechart/
If your setup isn't on there, please add it to help others. Hopefully, this chart will grow to the point where every setup is mentioned.
Thanks
Mike
