I was amazed as to how quiet a model 98 is in copmparison to a Shutter, how do they do that? Thanx in advance for any worthwhile input.

I hadn't necessarily noticed that. When I bought my 98 Custom, I thought it was pretty loud. *ponders* I did a few things to quiet mine, so that it WOULD be quieter than a stock Shutter... Got a new barrel (J&J 14"), put double sided foam tape on the back bolt to quiet the bolt slam, and I also placed some between the grip of my gun, and the bottom adapter to quiet the "ping" that runs through the body of the marker....other than that...

:P

I noticed that my Tippy was louder than every one elses guns and I'm talking about spyders and stuff here... they all pointed it out and I was like all bummed out about it.. until we went onto the feild... hehehe :D were they surpirsed...

Never underestimate the tippmanns.... they weren't pointing it out anymore after they got eliminated.... twice!

*nods, grins, and agrees* Long live Tippmanns...they're built like tanks, and they take ya out like a tank. ;)

Seriously, there ARE things to do to your Tippmann to make it even quieter. Check out m98center.com Great "How To" section.

Well with a shutter, it has that milled section in the back of the gun, plus the stock barrel. Those alone will make it a very loud marker, probably machin-gun sounding.

With a Tippmann, to quiet it down, a CP, J&J ceramic, DYE 12" Aluminium, SPAA, Arm. Stealth... et cetera. These barrels will help take away most of the noise.

With internal noise, some rubber will work.
