on saturday i went to play woodsball for my first time. this is awesome. I like woodsball better than speedball now. it is more challenging. its great theres hills that are at least 50 feet high you can climb them and snipe people out. I am going to p[lay woodsball instead of speed all now.:) :agree:

To each his own, I was never able to find much of a challenge with woods, but if you got good players near you, have fun with it.

I love woodsball also. If you play in hte right woods you could get some awesome team strategies and games going. You could even make little traps to psych people out. My brother took a tuna can and filled it with some rocks then tide it to a tree. He made a little sound alarm thing wiht it and when hte other team walked into it we knew where htey were. It worked good lol

Yeah, it's pretty fun, I started out playing woods, now I just play speed ball. It's not that it takes more or less skill to play either, just different TYPES of skills. Woods is more patience, Speed ball is more tactic.

He didn't say snipe... He didn't say snipe... He didn't say snipe... Go to your happy place Russ... You're on a speedball field... everyone is fully aware that a paintball marker is not accurate enough to snipe... everyone realizes that paintballs are unable to have consistent flight patterns...

Okay... calmed down now. I never could understand sniping in paintball. But as cockerkid said, to each his own.

You're in your happy place Russ....

He ment shoot people when they can't see you, you are thinking of sniping like shooting a gun and hiting behind the ear lobe or somehting.

I like both becuase they present deferent playing styles and you have to play both of them with a different stratagy. Both are cool!!!

I think woods is great; especially scenario games which have paths that lead to main bases. Nothing beats the instant firefight on speedball fields though. In the woods speedballers can utilize thier tatics when they FINALLY get in an intense firefight. They have to watch out for the major camoflauge, camper, sniper wannabe, fern heads though. If I see someone in the woods, I act like the trees are hyperball bunkers. This gives me 20 bunkers between the person and me. Making the elimination all that quicker.

I'm thinking hitting someone with one shot from 25-30 or more yards away, consistently, or in anyway often.

Well, actually there are some times you can go up a really high cliff and "snipe" people off it. Your paintballs travel much further when you're 25 feet off the ground. Of course it's nearly impossible to hit someone that far away because of poor accuracy and slow velocity towards the end of its flight but hey...

If talking about woodsball kills people like you, I'm all for it.

Go ghille suits and silencers!

Speedballers will have an edge if they can just imagine the woods like a speedball field. What they have to do is get in thier element. Find a place where there is no bushes and a nice fat tree and you will practically be invincible. I got ambushed by a bunch of ghille suit snipers and various camo gits and they all missed me in a scenario game once. Behind me was a nice house shaped bunker with a door. I ran inside and was covered 240 degrees. I proceeded to unload on my ambushers taking out 4 people. I just let my pods fall on the ground inside the house thinking I was going to defend this house against any camo git that decided to get past my house. The last guy left was shooting at me through the window of the house(the house was the size of a walk in closet) I saw his pod stick out and I bunkered him. He was like "What the heck! I thought you were in the house?". The house was 50 feet away from him. A ref was right beside me watching the whole thing, eyes as wide as dinner plates. Eventually 20 people on my team came up the trail. After I put my pods back in my harness, I led them really fast through the bushes. Since I had a nice assault team we just pretty much mowed any snipers hiding in the bushes down. I got out finally when I tried to bunker this out post with 3 people in it. I got to the bunker but couldn't find the door inside fast enough before the guys in the adjacent building lit me up. It was fun to say the least. Especially when the enemy shrinks away from one person that decides to hold his ground.

I know that any hardcore tournament player would love to hold a city in a scenario game on his own. He definitely can against all those people who know only woodsball. You always have to watch for the treeline though.

My first paintballing experience ever was this past Saturday. It was woods ball. We all had a blast. There were some good guy's though we had some organization. Flags, bunkers, boundaries already marked off etc.

First time paintballing Saturday, today Monday I go out and spend $600 on all new gear.

:D :D :D

WEll im glad you love woodsball. I also think its fun, but im more of a speedball/air ball/tourny player. i go rec-ballin once in a while. It doesnt matter what other players think, just remember that you can like what you can.
But still, you should try new things, or try old things you didnt like. Heck, i didnt like speedball when i first played, but then i played it once, then again, then again, and i leared to love it. It was fun.
Remember to play safe, and have fun.

I love them both. I grew up in NH (birthplace of paintball) and I've been playing in the woods most my life. I've only been playing speedball for about 4 years. Both are great. Both have a different feel and different rush.
I may be a speedballer now but I like going back to my roots every now and then.

Something must be wrong with your gun @_@

But for the anti-hijacking, yeah, woodsball is awesome, just as long as you do a little maintenance on the woods. Just clearing out thorns and underbrush. Of course, you guys may have done this already, as woodsball where I am means going out into someones backyard

Speedball isn't that fun, airball never played, woodsball is the best hands down...

Well, Urban is actually more godly, but yeah, woodsball is fun.

No, 30 yards is like 90 feet. After that, a paintball can hardly be considered all too accurate. It will go one way or another. I'm saying you can't expect real sniper accuracy (Or anything that close to it) with a paintball marker

For me, woodsball is too slow. I'll play it because lets face it, its paintball. But I prefer fast games.

you will either love or hate woodsball depending on the course you play. Some places i have played suck, and i didnt have a very good time, while other places ive played were some of my best paintballling experiences.

I love em both, but the only beef i have with speedball is the cost.

I enjoy playing woodsball AND speedball. I enjoy woodsball a little bit more because it is a bit more of a tactical game. The field is larger and has many more places to hide. You have to be able to figure out where the opposing team members are likely to go and adjust your tactics to counter that.

Speedball is a good quick, down and dirty fight. Smaller field, obvious cover, and lots of flying paint. Although I do get the impression that the reason that speedball/hyperball/airball are being pushed by the field owners, tournaments, and sponsors is because you fire so much more paint. More paint means more paintball $$, more air fills, more gun repair parts, and a perceived need to keep buying faster shooting markers. $$$$ makes the world go around.

When i played i hated it.. maybe its cuase my marker was unaccurate past 20 feet or everyone else was 100 x better since it was my first time

It was just a bad experience... fun... but speedball is better to me

It is in my heart to hate snipers. Someone who continually moves up the field routinely flanks everyone everyday has to hate sniper types. I don't like people who hide all the time. I got two nasty scars from a hot hider that hid in the corner of his bunker after I took out his entire team on the left. I look around for like 2 minutes and finally step out of my cover. I take a few steps then wham, wham. The first time I ever let out a yell getting hit by a paintball. 400fps. The guy freaked out, and since he WANTED to be a sniper he turned up his velocity (I hate external velocity adjusters.) He didn't expect someone to take out his guys at such a close range. I paid for it I guess. His 3 teamates were gone in 30 seconds.

I've been hit by a over velocity paintball 'Sniper' from about 15-20 feet away. Ouch.
