View Full Version : Barrel for an Autococker

I'm planning on getting a new barrel for my WGP Vert Cocker.

I really like Ultralites, but I've heard that with a closed bolt marker, a non-perfect paint match will mean my paint will roll out EVERY time I point my marker down.

Evil Pipes look nice, but I'm looking for something 12 inch, and quite frankly, can't afford a 200 dollar barrel kit.

Is a single barrel really almost useless on a closed bolt?

Any suggestions?

(I know there's a sticky on barrel comparisons, it's mine, I need to know a good barrel for this kind of marker.)

Have you checked the comparison sticky lately :D I added 4 pages of new info to it.

And I know there are several barrel kit comparison threads in there.

I have looked at the thread, it's just that I have no idea where to start, and some threads may be for other markers.

I have no idea what I should get, and barrel kits cost too much for me.:(

A barrel is a barrel...

If you can't afford a kit new, I'd suggest looking at the trading forums. Freak kits are pretty cheap on there.

Not to mention, in the WGP forum itself there's a sticky on paint/barrels.

I'm wasn't really big on Smart Parts before, and now they've got the stupid lawsuit going on, so I'm not going for a Freak.

I'll go look on the WGP forum.

Look at it this way... buying SP products doesn't put any more money into their pockets. However, I'm sure there are other used kits that go up from time to time.

Or, as an alternative, buy a 2 piece marker that you can buy different backs for. That way, you can buy more backs as you get the funds, and decide which you use most, then sell the rest.

Or, conversely, pick a type of paintball that you will use nearly exclusively, and find a barrel that matches it very well. Buy that barrel. Use that paint.

Won't work real well for tourneys though, especially ones that aren't BYOP.

I'd recommend the CP 2 piece. Start out with a back and front for $60. Then when you get the money, buy more backs.

I didn't find any sticky at WGP. I found a forum for barrels and paint, but the threads were mainly people asking what barrel, and didn't help me. Any more suggestions?

if u've got money power lyte scepter, or evil pipe system, those are like the best ones, don't waste money on semi decent barrels :D , na j/k but if u've got that gun get a good barrel to match.

What do you mean, some threads may be for other markers? Its just a barrel, it will perform the same way on any marker.

Well, the 'cocker is closed bolt so the barrel does more than shoot the ball straight.

But it's all the same anyway..

Very true, but there is still no performance difference.

It's the closed bolt thing that bothers me. A single piece barrel will keep rolling paint out of my barrel if it's not a match.

Other markers might not have the same problem. For example, if it's a thread about a mag, it's practically useless to me, because the barrel(S) they talk about wouldn't have to keep the paint in, the ball detent in the mag does it for them.

I might not be able to use the same paint all the time, but barrel kits are way too expensive for me.

That's my problem. :|

I'm going to boil it down to this.

Is losing a ball or two when I point down really going to matter enough to where I almost HAVE to get a Barrel System? Or should I just get a one piece like an Ultralite.

If you're only playing recball, it shouldn't. I never got a kit for my 'Cocker, but that's probably because I only had it for a month and a half.

Well, if you're gonna play field paint tourneys, then you need to get a kit of somekind. I still recommend the CP 2 piece if you're not into the whole investment now, then later you can add on and make a sweet kit.

or the two peice smart parts all american barrels are really really good too for around the same price as the cp 2 peice and i like them a little better, quieter, and more accurate.

Except that if you want to change the bore size you need to get a Freak back, and those cost a lot of green.

yeh that's true, but by the sounds of it it doesn't sound like he's looking to spend lots of money right now.
