Personal If I was just getting into paintball I wouldn't buy a cocker cuase they are a bit tricker to take care of. I would buy a easer gun to operate and maintain like a pirnaha or a spyder or if your looking for a rlly reliable gun go with a tippmann 98 custum or a tippmann A-5

Cockers are mostly ment for tourny play and are lots of fun I would just stick to a less complicated gun for now.

Pirnaha
Spyder
Tipmmann

eh... i wouldn't say they're "meant for tourny play." they're just as good for rec or woods as any other gun. i love cockers, but i would never recommend one to a newbie. you should get a spyder and learn to maintain that before you get a cocker.
a cocker's worst enemy is a newbie with hex keys.

instead of a cocker, i'd look into a used automag instead.

yea definately mag>cocker for maintenence. im still afraid to even handle a cocker (not really) but i dont wanna mess one up. i play harder with my mag than i do with my buds cocker cause, i dont know how to fix it if something goes wrong.

yeah cockers are great when you know what you are doing or know someone that knows how to fix it if it goes bad and teach you along the way. if you have that like i did when i got my cocker (like a really nice store owner that fixes stuff for free) then go for the cocker, if not then eh...nah get a tippman yu wont be disapointed:D and welcom to the great sport of paintball.:)

i take back what i said earlier. if you have the patience to learn all the aspects of an autococker prior to buying one, then you won't have any trouble. read some of the articles in the wgp forum and at air-powered.com.

Get the cocker, get a manual, and get someone with experience willing to help you. There are tons of people online who will help you over AIM. I'm not one of them.
