What kind of improvement would an expansion chamber do to a gun

The expansion chamber transfers CO2 from liquid to gas so that no liquid CO2 get in your marker which causes velocity spikes and other problems.

what kind of chamber would you recommend for a compact java 2 and 1

You might want to read up a bit more about co2 and x-chambers and whatnot. I don't use co2, but people seem to think that for a bit more, a regulator is a much better deal, does the same thing as an expansion chamber, and more. There's also stuff like an anti-siphon filter, and remote hoses...they all prevent liquid from getting into the gun (I think...)

Just thought I'd let you know there's a lot out there, and you might be happier with a regulator.

An expansion chamber will reduce the amount of liquid going through the gun. Velocity spikes should be reduced, as less liquid enters. However, I wouldn't recommend an expansion chamber, and would call it a waste of money. They usually run from $30-$50, or so. You could get a regulator for that amount. I got a WGP regulator off some guy who didn't want it for $12, so I'm sure you can pick up that regulator for a low price just as well. Don't expect stores to want to lower the price though, so just ask around to regulars around the field totoing 'Cockers. They'll probably have a WGP they don't want or so... Not only are the WGP regs cheap, but they take CO2 quite well...

coulnt you just get an N2 tank and have it do prettymuch the same thing?

Yes, that would work... However, if you want to adjust the pressure going into your gun, you're going to need an adjustable tank, unless you get an adjustable inline regulator.

i put a 32 degrees expansion chamber on and i get about 1000 shots out of a 12 oz. co2 tank. it is so awesome. get one. they help a lot.

A regulator would do the same thing, but better..Also you might want to consider getting a low pressure setup.

An expansion chamber will not effect the amount of shots per fill.

blindseaman, yes it will. according to an ad for some weird looking thermal x chamber they say that for every shot of liquid co2 you shoot you couldve gotten 20 shots more if it were converted to air. so ya it really would affect the amount of shots you get. also, could a regulator let the liquid expand into air? just curious.

The only way it would make a difference would be if you get lots of liquid in your gun all the time. When they say 20 to 1 that shot has to be solid liquid. Also, a reg keeps liquid out better out than an expansion chamber, so by that theory a reg would give you even more shots.
