View Full Version : Sniping & Paintball: What's your opinion?

I honestly don’t think sniping exists in paintball. First of all, you just don’t have the distance for sniping tactics. If you’re closer to your opponent, then odds are your much more visible. Secondly, paintball markers haven’t gotten to the level of accuracy to take out an opponent from a safe, hidden position. Instead of the word ‘snipe’ I like to use the term ‘ambush’. Your close to the opposition, your hidden, and odds are your going to take more than one shot. I still find this to be a poor tactic in most games, especially timed ones. The only time where an ambush (not snipe; the word newbies seem to love so very much) would be a practical tactic would be in a scenario game, where your given certain tasks, and a great deal of time. Paintball shouldn’t be compared, or thought similar to warfare, and if you call your- self-a sniper, you obliviously don’t agree. Camouflage works, stealth works, sitting back and trying to make a positive difference for your team doesn’t.
Oh, one more thing, I know there are already several threads like this one, but I wanted to create a new one so more people would read it. I’m curious if anyone agrees, or if they have information that could discredit my post. Try to vary posts from previous comments, we don’t need to hear ‘sniping is a newbie thing’ more than once. Thanks.

I like to use geurilla tactics, scouting out positions, getting behind enemy lines, and harrassing them in recball. Snipers cannot exist on the paintball field, but lets drop this subject.

I hate "sniping", I hate "snipers". The only far out schemes that work in paintball are authentic Jackie Chan moves.
This one time I was getting shot at, so I hightailed it, did a back flip off a tree and while upside down, did the splits and shot the opponent. The ref told me it was "Kung-fulicious"
I don't like camo, nor would I ever wear it. I don't care what you think, I still say it makes paintball look primitave. Get out of the woods and on to the speedball field. That's the way this sport is headed, I'm just following the trend.

Camouflage…I’ll say it again, does NOT ruin the sport. Before speedball and inflatable bunkers were around, all of today’s tourney players wore it. I’ve read articles in magazines that defend camouflage as well. Now why would a magazine, a paintball magazine that depends on the image of the sport, defend something that ruins it? If you don’t play at fields or scenarios, you may not think it, but I’d be willing to bet more people where some sort of camo then bright colored jerseys. :agree:

Because it's APG.

My opinion is that all of these sniper threads should be locked. I'm tired of kids who have been playing speedball for a year or less calling all woods players "noobies". These arguments dont help this site, our sport or serve any purpose other than to provide a place for a pizzing contest. We all need to put this behind this, and get on with more constructive threads. I use sniper tactics when I play woods(no, not long range) and will continue to do so weather or not any of you recognize the legitimacy of 'sniping' in paintball.
Try to think about how you are representing the sport before you go shooting your mouth off. The fact is that many tourney players started out playing woods, and do you really think that people are going to want to play speedball when all they see here is a bunch of camo bashing, rude, vulgar, insulting "Speedball Owns JU" types representing themselves as speedball players?
I play speedball from time to time and enjoy it, but i dont go calling all the people I meet there a bunch of newbies and insulting them, because they play a different style of paintball than what I prefer. (woods)
In conclusion, Cant we all just get along?

We are NOT going to have another sniper thread. Go into one of those and post a reply, there are about 4 others, no need for more
