need help deciding on a barrel.. dye, sp, or lapco... i was leaning towards the lapco but how loud is it?? i don't want to spend too much so barrels like the boomstick is out of the question.

i went with the j&j ceramic on my cocker and its great its sooo quiet and accurate as long as ya got a paint to barrel match. i was usin it today n when i was in a bunker like 40 yrds from some guy n i kept shootin at him and he couldnt figure out where it was comin from until he saw me pop up then i nailed him :)

I like my stealth...but its way to picky about paint. So if I have to shoot crappy field paint I use my boomstick.

I wouldnt get the boomstick unless you want to have the trendy best barrel. Its realy not greater than most other barrels. With a good paint match in my boomer and 8" thunder pig i had the same performance. I sold my boomer to get a cp 2-piece just because I can choose the bore and I like the blue tip and style. It doesnt shoot any better but I liked the way it looked more than the boomer and it costs less and you can change the bores. I was thinking about getting the freak but I just didnt like the way it looked even though you get more bores for cheaper. I had a lpaco and it was like a cannon but very accurate. They are great for the price if you dont like the sound. Barrels that I like are lapco, cp, boomers(but I dont like the price). The boomer is a giffen(sp?) good and a lapco or cp will be just as good and you can buy a couple and still have some cash left over to get a cute little 8" off ebay for the price of a boomer. Dont ask me why I talk so much i dont know.

I also was deciding between a couple of different barrels when I bought my 2001 cocker. I ended up getting a DYE 14" Aluminum barrel and it is soooo quiet and accurate as hell. I did a lot of researching before I bought any barrel and from what I read, the Armson Stealth and the DYE Aluminum are the two quietest (at least the 2001 cocker). I have only broken like 2 balls in my barrel so far and I have gone through 2 cases of paint. If you want the barrel to be really quiet you should probably get one of these two, or like a Boomstick, but the most important thing is to get a good paint to barrel match.

honestly to tell you the truth i have not seenthat significant of a difference between the boomer and my J&J i used the boomer 6 games went through bout 700 paintballs broke like 30 but havent had that problem with my J&J (by the way i use marbs) i got the same performance out of each barrel but i do like my j&j a lot better and i didnt have to spend 150 bucks on a boomer so in my opinion go with what ever barrel you want if ya got the money go ahead and get the bommer you will be pleased but i have had the same results with my J&J

I shoot a 14' small bore AA barrel and I it's been great, but definately JJs, Boomsticks, or AAs. CPs are pretty good too but in my opinion the same as JJ ceramics, just a lil heavier.
