we were playing paintball at my friends house yesterday and a bunch of us were there including like 5 people that it was their first time which only makes the situation worse... the kid has a habit of takin his mask off when he gets out so "people don't shoot at him". anyway he was starting to get a lot better about keeping his mask on after we yelled at him a bunch and stuff. but he got gogged yesterday and instinctivley again ripped his mask off he says it slipped off, but i was reffing and i saw him take it off. well, there was still more paint flying at him during all this and then next one hit him what look like in the face and i was like oh shat so i called the game and stuff and when i get up there he was like im blind and i was like oh shat again... then we finally got him to sit up and stop crying and luckily it hit a little above his temple so he was ok. but we decided to punish him and we sent him home then banned him for a little while from coming maybe more if we have to...but what made me mad the most was that there were a bunch of new kids that were jsut learnin how to play :pissed:

I don't see why you're mad b/c there were first timers there. I think they've learned right off the bat to keep their masks on. The guy just set a perfect example of why you always have your mask on.

one time when i was a noob playin woods, i chopped. I went behind a rather large bunker and thought id be out of the way of any balls, so i took off my mask to clean my gun. i was leaning over it, and a paintball comes at me somhow, and grazes the tip of my nose. I have never taken off my mask since. If i were an inch closer to my gun, i would probably be blind in my right eye.

I was at that game too...im his brother. he took his mask off and almost got hit in the eye. we were mad because we told him numerous time to keep his mask on. plus we were just playing at a friends house...in other words...no insurance and stuff, but well have a chrono soon.i think he deserved to get hit in the eye thought for being an idiot and taking his mask off in a game.

my friend takes his mask off all the time during woodsball. he thinks hes cool.
You guys that have kids that always remove thier masks, should really consider not playing with those kids. Sure its thier life... thier eyes and all that. However you too will be effected. What if your the poor slob that shoots him. Moron such as you describe can only make things bad for you and paintball in general. Banning the little fool was great. Keep up the good work.

and couldnt the kid that got hit file a lawsuit against you? or would that be considered neglegence on his part?

its not my property, but im sure he could have file a lawsuit if he got injured. it definatley was his fault though for not using common sense. we were all very upset and we basically kicked him out. ( made him call his mommy)

seeing as how its private land, and its not his land, dont invite him anymore....ever.i dont care if he learns a lesson. it shows the other people at your field that its okay.

Or you could just ductape him to a tree, and shoot him/her a few times up close, and tell him/her that each time they do that they get shot up close a whole bunch of times. It may not seem right or civilized, but I guarntee you it'll work.
(Or like one ref on my field you take off ur mask, get shot in the foot from about 3 inches away)

God, you guys are so right, especially Canadia_PBaller. Because, you know, why bother to try and reason with someone when you can tie them up and physically hurt them instead? Violence, my friends, is always the answer, and practicing it regularly will let others know that paintballers are mature, patient, serious and in no way raving morons. Remember this when you go to the field and represent our sport, guys.

i've never taken my mask off in a game..its flown off a few times, like when i was playing woods ball, and i was running through this open area and stepped in a groundhog hole, tripped, mask flew off, gun went flying. first thing i do is keep low and put my hand over top of my eye level but on enough angle i can see the ground. it was pretty brutal wipe out, but yet i still didnt get out nor shot at. but i always keep my mask on mainly because i like seeing out of my eyes. but baseballboy138 i think you went a little over the top with banning the kid for awhile, if he's a noob cut him some slack, he'll know better next time or else risk taking another shot to the head. if he does it agin, i feel some banning may be in order

I know what you mean, here is my response: Charge him and yell at him to put his "Smurfy", new mask, with the fuzzy dice and "dingle-berries" on, and, when he does, tackle him, and throw a few punches in his stomach, then send him home, and ban him forever from your field, or, just go to an official PB field, whichever ;)

I'm not for the whole beat him or any other unnecessary violence, but banning was in order. Stress to him that it could have been his eye, and he could have been blinded in that one for LIFE.
There is no reason not to follow the safety rules of paintball. It is a very safe sport, when played PROPERLY. If someone takes off their mask or sets their velocity too high, people can get hurt.

I once took off my mask in my first game. I thought it would be Ok since it was 5 minutes after the game. Then the ref told me to put it back on.

I see no problem with banning an unsafe player from a field. Don't think of it in terms of the kid's feelings, think of it in terms of which every friend's property you're playing on, and the chance that his parents could get sued and lose everything they have because of that one kid.
If he cries about it, just let him cry. At least he'll still have both eyes intact to cry with. ;)

ive never taken my mask off in a game. the only time i take it off at paintball is when im out, im at least 50 feet away from where theyre playing, and my back is turned towards the field and that is just to clean the splatter and such off my mask.
if i were you i would yell at him and ask him why he even bought the mask if hes just going to take it off in the middle of a game and get shot. then id ban him from the field for at least a month.
