Clueless on regs

Alright bear with me here. If someoe could explain what the LPR and the HPR do on a gun (by the way I have a B2K2) It would help alot. Also I want to upgrade my regs , they are still stock...any advice?

The HPR regulates the HP air from the tank to the LPR. The LPR regulates the LP from the HPR to the noid.
