ok guys my gun is sold and its time to buy my new gun... is the gx-4 worth the extra 100 buxs. you guys that have been shooting the omen how does it perform next to the auto cocker? i have shot the GX-4 and love it but the omen seems bad ***. what do you think? does it have the distance and accuracy the cocker does? thanks for your help! sry for being such a noob!

If you want electro, I would get the Omen. If you want mech., then get the GX-4. You can't beat either of them.

Distance? Accuracy? Please don't tell me that you think that cockers can somehow defy physics without using backspin to aid their balls to go farther.

A ball fired at 280fps out of a mag, and a ball fired at 280 fps out of a cocker will go the same distance (slightly different, due to wind resistance and stuff, but no one gun will be favored over the other).

Accuracy? That is deterministic on several things.

Some main things are consistency of your gun (regulator, LPR, if you have one, Pneu reg, if you have one, how well your gun is tuned, etc), lack of kick, and honestly... how well you feel with that gun, and how comfortable you are with it.

To put it In Newb talk:

The cocker is closed bolt, this is what makes the mith that it's more accurate and shoots farther.

The Omen is also closed bolt, so if you believe in the closed bolt mith...yes it has the same range and accuracy.

I do not beleive the mith, but I do have a suspision .

well, like spartan said if u belive in the myth.... then i would have to say go with the omen...cus it would have just as good accuracy and distance...then it comes with the speed...plus a good barrel hmmm i dunno u decide

If u loose to a person don't blaim ur gun and buy the gun he used, I bet if you traded guns the results would be the same..

I see no reason a a5 flatline could not compete with a cocker.

well since you see so many pros using tippmanns (not)... no its not the user. sure iam a noob but, i got my rat and let me tell you it shoots a 100 times better than my tippmann... if there were was no diff in guns why not by a spyder from wallmart? this is what sucks about coming to forums there is a bunch of you jerks out there. whats the point of asking help... when all you can do is talk crap. jason and bourne i bet you both use nice guns why not get some hunk of junk if its just the user? well thanks for being such *******s!!!!!!!

:eyes: Why am I a jerk? The reason that so many pros use high-end guns is so that they are as consistent and reliable as they can possibly be. In addition, there are the sponsorship issues.

And yes, the gun does effect how you play, but I would venture to say that it's 10% gun, 90% player.

Me and Jason were just saying there is no reason that an A5 flatline couldn't compete w/ a cocker.

Now.. please explain why I'm a jerk?

BTW - I was agreeing w/ Jason's last statement, I was in a hurry before and didn't read that business about "buying his gun if you lose... etc..."

I just got an Emag (used). And in the 4-5 years I've been playing, this is the first electro that I've owned. ;)

Tell yah what, I'll take a Rental on to the field with yah, and we can do a 1 on 1...oh man I would so tear you up :) I used rentals for the Longest time before I bought my gun, and I know how to use them right. The Tippmanns are very reliable, and do not chop offten, you simply have to get up close, which I and very good at :)

Okay, let's leave personal comments like that out of this particular thread. :)

hey ben I wasn't trying to be a jerk and put you down I was just stating the fact that just cause you loose doesn't mean u should get a new gun. Don't think forums or bad just because what I said. Also I have an excell 6.0 with co2 and my friend found it more accurate than his cocker with nitro, go figure... I found that i played better with my excell than the cocker as well because it is much lighter and easier to run around with. Sure i've played pros with angels and got my as kicked, but I've also played newbs with timmys and won.

I go to a field where pros play all the time and their is this ref that uses a rental and jusy plain kicks everyone with bought guns, of course being a ref you learn tons of stuff from all the pros around.

P.S. I dont wanan be known as a jerk :(

My bad...what I should have said was...If you know how to use the gun, even a Cheap beginner gun can be good in the hands of a expert :)

I have to make sure, did you buy it new or used because if you got it used your soul is damned to hell for supporting smart parts. But if you got it used you were helping lighten the burded that some one else had from owning a sp product that they bought new.

wait so you have an impulse? If you do why do you want a new gun?
Also i have heard that if your going to buy a cocker, the only ones worth it are from WGP. (?)

I thought he meant simply equip wise. like distance and what not. and personally, I find a VERY big diff between flatline A-5's and my stock friggin cocker! the main one being that I can actually shoot 2 paintballs in the same place, the a-5 jars like none other. like I was surprised how much kikc that has got goin to it

Personally If I had a choice between a e-gripped/flatelined A-5 and a stock cocker...I would take the A-5

you have finally snapped spartan! lol jj but seriously I wouldnt take an egrip flatline tippy over a stock cocker for darn sure, well maybe that is stretchin it lol. money wise it is alot more for an egrip flatline cocker, but really, A-5's jar the crap outta you lol. but I guess it is all preferance.

Word up on the prefference. I find that the A-5 is not that bad of a gun;however, it is far from great. I personally am not a cocker guy, i just can't stand the trigger pull. I can live with it, but I just as soon use a Mech sear tripping trigger or electro over a cocker pneumatic air-assist pumping mechanism.

not me, I love the pull. I used a bushy this weekend and wasnt really thrilled. I like my cocker's pull better, but thats me.

Yah your weird :)

Now a E-cocker is Ok, but I would take a viking over it for the price...
