Why ?

I tend at times to play with my marker very close to me, more in line to make a small a target as possible, and so a small barrel lends itself it a smaller target, but since I dont know anyone who has ever played with such a small barrel ...

I seem to be having trouble finding a really nice 8"-10" barrel for my spyder, so I though maybe 5" inches could somehow fill in, although I do waorry about the 6"-8" accelartion needed ...

The marker needs 4" to accelerate the paintball accurately, more if you want to do it effeciently... See Smart Parts Freak.

You can do a 5" barrel, just don't expect an effecient marker. Finding a barrel may be hard as well(mod'n an existing barrel can be troublesome).

Equations makes a nice 8" barrel :)

I wouldnt advise of a 5". but you can go onto Ebay and search for a 3 peice 21" thunderpig and use the back piece. it is very accurate for the size but LOUD! The thunderpig was only like 20-30$ but its only if your heart is set on a 5" barrel, and want it cheap

Why not just keep your stock barrel then? It's close enough to the size you want. However, a fair amount of speedball players are now getting 14" barrels so they can push into the bunker some to shoot and stay protected.

And is being moved to barrels. ;)

buy say a 10" barrel and cut it in half, then sand off any rough edges, and tada, a 5" barrel

Use a 10 inch. or just use the stock barrel. Most spyders have around 9 inch stock barrel. 10'' boomy was nice on my spyder.

Jesus, boy! Where's your grammer? :)

That's a bad idea cause cutting a barrel in half will be hard as hell. And then you'll get burs and an unsexy looking end. You'll ruin a perfectly good barrel!

You could finish it though and it'd look and perform fine :)

That's what you think! How about someone try this. :D

What, no one wants to chop their precious DYE in half? Good choice :)

God, dude, forgive my grammar. It's been really terrible lately.

It isn't hard to do. I purchased this little pipe cutter thinger at sears. Took about 5 minutes to cut it, than sand down all the spurs. It looked great

I did it to my Maverick. Hockey has it now. You can ask him about it, works and looks great.

4 1/2 inches.

There's a picture of it at the bottom of Hockey's web page. Check it out here (http://www.geocities.com/na000395/Paintball.html)

It's not actually on the gun, but next to it.
