Ok I just got back from my local pro shop and when I was there i found out that the guy that worked there is extremely stupid. There is this kid who wants a new barrel for his 98 custom. The store guy takes him over to the barrel section and says " This right here is a good barrel. A lot of the guys with tippmans like this barrel. Its a smart parts whisper barrel." I am sitting there with a blank look on my face and my jaw dropped:drop:. On the barrel i can clearly see the proggressive jewel on the barrel and i could tell far before he took it out of the case it was a proggresive. I could not believe that the guy could work at a pro shop 1st didnt know that that was a progressiv and 2 nd that he didnt even read the jewel clearly seen from his point of view. It was the most pathetic thing i have seen in a long time. Anyone else encounter such dumb pro shop workers?

the guys i got to know what they're talking about, they're fun to talk to, as for their store, it isn't too woopy. Spyder Stock Barrels- 35.00 Progressives are like 60.00, Tippmann 98s for 155.00 Jesus, but for what I get there (tanks filled and paintballs), its all good. BTW, they're Brass Eagle haters, and are stereotypical though about many things related to paintballing, so if I get an opinion, I am certainly gonna get only theirs:confused:

You guys are fourtunate. However the guy that is dumb works there quite often but his boss is a pretty good paintballer and im sure he knows what hes talking about. He isnt there much though. There are some other pretty cool guys there too but i hardly ever see em. I could do a better job at that place than that guy does. Am I the only one cursed with the stupid techs? Wow if so then i need to move.

Ohh Jeez my local shops(about 5) are all ran by morons. The best thing Ive heard is...."cockers are the best, they are the fastest and have the best accuracy". I then asked what do you mean by "fastest" the guy told me, "they shoot faster than other guns, it really hurts to get hit by one". But Ive heard all the stupid things....like "ohh PMI's is the best paint to snipe with!" and "Some professional players have told me that the Halo is not as fast as the Revy, they are all just hype, thats why we dont carry them....but this Revy right here(about $65)" These were from owners too.

One day, I'm going to be a lucky newb (refer to the "Which Marker Would You Like To Rent?" thread.) Except I think I'm going to just help at the field and not the pro shop. I don't know too much about guns and barrels yet, plus, don't you have to be like 18 years or older to work in a pro shop?
If you think the people at the shop are stupid, maybe you should see if you can work there and replace the idiots, because it's not cool to have people give out the wrong information/products and rip off poor newbies.
Last time I was at a pro shop, I had to sign those waiver things and I was reading it, so the guy who worked there was all, "Wow, you're actually reading it." I'm like, "Well, I just want to make sure I know what I'm signing." Guy says, "It basically just says if you get hurt or die, you can't sue us." Since it was my first time playing, it kind of freaked me out... It's not really a stupid thing, but it's not nice to freak out newbies.

at my local proshop, the people there are all hardcore scuba divers, or they are on one of the shops many sponsered teams (8) and of corse its great to walk in and have everyone there know your name......

Ya i really do want to work there. Im sure i could help out a lot more than that guy. I dont know too much about higher end guns cept cockers (im still a newb at cockers though) so if i did work there i would just help out the little kids with there pirranhas and spyders and such. Plus id get cheap paint. Id probly end up being a pro shop worker and a ref if i did work there cause one of my friends brothers was just walking around in the shop and the owner asked him if he wanted to work there so he did. Now he is mostly a ref i think but he might work at the pro shop too. He is only 16 so maybe if he doesnt work at the pro shop you have to be like 16 to be a ref and 18 to be a tech. I am only 14 so i probly wouldnt be able to work there until 16 but ill ask em sometime. That same guy was asked to fix a newbs gun and he found out that it was just paint in the breech so he ran a squeege through it and said well thats 20 bucks (20 bucks for 1 hour and 15 bucks for each additional hour on labor). It took him a total of less than a minute. He then said well this kid will keep on coming in and ill clean it and get 20 bucks. That guy is an arse. I would tell the kid what he needed to do so he wouldnt keep getting ripped off. I hear reffing sucks but i think it wouldnt be too bad. I think it would be better than working at burger king.

For some reason the guys at my local pro shop feel the need to talk down to me. They're considerably older than me, and since I don't play on the local tournament circut they don't really know who I am. I'm guessing they think I'm just another would be walmart-paintballer. Not exactly the smartest business tactic being mean to strangers and all, but the other pro shop is all the way in town, and this one is just a five minute drive from my house. hehe if only they knew. But I don't mind, I just go in on saturdays when my friend is working because they get paid on partial commission. :|
