I'd go with what he siad. If you really like the sport and you want your first gun i would go with the tl+. I've had 2 pump guns, a spyder classic, a spyder tl+, and an autococker. I'd go with the tl+ and learn about how it works then learn about the autococker before just jumping in and getting one.

well, get to like paintball first. then i think you should go for the cocker. i dont regret getting my spyder at all, but i think that the cocker is a much better marker. but there are some downsides to the cocker:

1. trigger, complete pull or else you'll chop, you have to learn how to shoot it first.
2. complicated, DONT MESS WITH ANYTHING! with cockers this phrase is best: IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT!
3. timing, when you first get it and everytime you change something you need to get it retimed. timing is basically making sure everything is released when it is supposed to according to the trigger pull.

so, i would basically play with rentals for a little, try a cocker first, if you dont like it, get the spyder.

get the TL+ and learn the fundamentals of paintball first. There is nothing like taking out a newbie that has a nice gun. you will be deemed as... that sucky newbie with the cocker

If you already know you like paintball, don't buy a tl+, and get the autococker. If you're a newbie, don't buy a gun yet. And, if you have to buy a gun, don't get a tl+. buy a compact 2000 and upgrade it. That way you don't waste your money on stock parts that you'll want to replace anyway. If you have that much money and you buy a spyder you will either decide you don't like paintball and sell it or wish you had gotten a higher end gun. Also, autocockers will run on co2, but an anti-siphon tank is reccomended.

Anyone who has an autococker will tell you its not a good gun for a newbie. Don't tell him to get the autococker. He first needs to learn

I agree, Don't get the Cocker yet. Otherwise you'll crash & burn.

Yeah like everyone said, don't the cocker as yur first gun. I'm kinda frightened by all the cocker mechanics, and I've been playing 2 1/2 years! Get a Spyder C2K (like me), and upgrade it. You can get the gun for around 85 bucks and that leaves you with $315 to upgrade!

Cockers don't get messed up on their own.

ds613 cockers do get messed up on their own believe me they are very complicated markers.

I agree with sloth, buy a compact, this is probably the best gun for a newbie... cause if you get more into paintballing you can always upgrade it!

Get a used Automag off eBay. They won't break and with the money you'll save you can get a good nitro off eBay too.

mag's looked appealing to me, but if you had the choice of a mag or a cocker, take the cocker. it's actually all pref. but if you've been to the field only a few times with friends, i suggest not getting either of these high end semis...
get a low end.

you're friends were right with their choice of a spyder compact 2000... the gun is supposed to perform very well, but make sure you buy a nice aftermarket barrel. the more you like paintball, the more you upgrade it, to outperform a tl... the stock ex-chamber that kingman gives their guns are crap, so i have heard. so buy the compact, an expansion chamber with bottom line, a new barrel... and that's a very good gun for the money.

my two cents, canadian.

Save up, buy an Angel for your first gun. Then I'll trade you for my Spyder Shutter.
Actually, I would go with a Shutter, nice new barrel (JJ ceramic $30 ebay) and a revvy and either a 14 or 16 oz tank. The 16 is more compact but the 14 can brace against your shoulder. My experiance with the Shutter has been most pleasurable and you do not need a cocker to take out a Bushy.

My recomendations:
-Spyder Compact 2000 (85)
-WGP Reg off of Cocker (20-30)
-New 45 grip frame possible w/ dbl trigger (60-80 depends on model, you could just get the 45grip w/o trigger frame for much cheaper)
-Dye BASIC stickies (10)
-Barrel: CP, Lapco, J&J Ceramic (40-60)
-Hoses (10-25 depending on macroline or steel and what kind of fittings you want)
-Possibly a nice drop forward: Phsyco B, Lapco, etc (25-40)

Total: 250-330

If you got for the cheaper stuff and spend around say 300...maybe less you could use the 100 to get a HPA system off of ebay or a nice used one off these forums. There is no comparison between HPA and co2...believe me.

I kinda wish I would have bought a cocker right off the bat too...but that's just me...I like to tinker with stuff and for me I think a cocker would be the perfect gun. I am hoping to get a 2001 vert feed for my b day/christmas. You can't go wrong with a spyder. Also I think it is a better idea if you upgrade yourself instead of buying one of the already accesorized kingman markers. You will learn more about your marker and how it works by making adjustments and upgrades yourslef, and you can pick the things you want and need instead of replacing stuff on the already upgraded markers. :) good luck...remember to GOOD goggles and save money for paint...lol

Ok nevermind with the trigger frame...I thought the compacts still used the m16 grips...they dont...so just go for the stickies and forget about the aftermarket frame for now. :) that should save you atleast 50 bucks
