I'm wondering what barrels are the best. a 14" compared to a 16". I understand that the length can get irritating and catch on branches and stuff but, I don't care about that. When i comes down to PERFORMANCE!! Is a 14" better or is a 16" better?

nope, between 14" and 16" thats only 2 inches difference. 2 inches means nothing in a barrel of the same type. Really it's personal preference for you.

Where'd my 12 inch go? Oh, in my pants, now where's the 12 inch barrel option?

hehe :P

personally I like the 14

Id have to say the 14" I know the 16 is only two inches away but its too long in my eyes

that's because you don't know alot, and there is a slight unmeasurable differance in preformance, thats due to the fact that the extra porting you get lowers pressure and less turbulence. All in all better internal ballistic factors, so enjoy your extra .25 cm accuracy

i think that anything over 14 inches will slow down the paintball, and will not be benificial in many ways. 16 in. i think will only get in the way, and is cumbersome..if i were you i'd get a 12 or 14 in. barrel

Yea, I hear that anything over 16" is not that great. I was wondering if i should get a 14" or a 16" barrel. I don't care about the length or it getting caught on branches and stuff but I just wanted to know about performance between the two barrels? can i get more range from the 16"? or what

10 or 12" is good. Anything over that is pointless and will just get in the way.

Accuracy by volume man! who needs an accurate barrel?!?!?! just shoot a hella lot of balls at 'em and you'll eventually hit 'em! J/K

No more accuracy or range. The only difference is that one is 2"s longer, and the longer will guzzle a little bit more gas, but not very much more. So it doesnt really matter.

In my opinion, even a 14" is a little too long. I try to use my 10", and hardly ever go over 12".

Just take the barrel off and sell it, use the money for more paint. j/k ;)

I read on a this sight that after a 14" in length it starts to effect the velocity.

It affects velocity at any length.

The longer the barrel, the higher your velocity will have to be to make up for the extra pressure that is needed to propel the ball. It wont make that much of a difference, just a few less shots per tank with a longer barrel.

call me old fashion but i like the ole 12 incher. hey tl+, i see they finally made you a mod. (ihavent been in the forums in a while so people, dont start saying stuff like "that happened a long time ago")

In my experience, I've found that a 12 inch and 10 inch have no measurable difference in accuracy, I just like the 12 better because it points easier. Bigger than that gets clumsy

this is for a PERFORMANCE comparison (performance/accuracy) not wether or not it will catch on brush or what ever.

This weekend I paintballed at my summer cabin on the beach with a lot of fallen over trees, landslides, and big rocks. A guy on the other team was crouched down behind a bolder, so my brother took off his barrel and lobbed the paint over the rock and hit the guy... It was awesome.

I think manueverability is part of performance, that's like saying a car performs really well if you ignore the fact that it only turns left...

hence the topic! if you cannot read then don't post anything. I am asking if there is a related effect between barrel length. A performance comparison between a 14" barrel and a 16" barrel! The fact that the barrel is going to catch on brush is a constant in this formula; Can you get better accuracy, hit %, or whatever with a 14" or a 16" of the same barrel that is the topic here

As I understand In Accuracy a 12,14,16 are all equal.

Some people just like longer barrels for looks, like me.

10 or 12 inches are the optimum lengths. They did tests and found out that the ball is only accelerating in the first 8-12 inches of the barrel, so anything after that is slowing it down. Not to mention the fact that longer barrels are NO more accurate whatsoever. Some people think that the longer barrels look intimidating. I used to think so too, when I was very new at this. Now I just think it's a good way to spot newbies and people who don't do much research. (excluding, of course, those who bought their long barrels when they were new and just haven't replaced them)
