Do you think it would be possible for paintball manufactures to create an anti-wipe paintball?

I was thinking a super florescent paint that wouldn't fade away when you try to wipe it off, unlike the paint used these days. Another idea is for the paint to be more viscous. Of course the paint would still be washable. It sounds impossible, but there has to be a way...

Just a thought, What do you guys think? Any other ideas?

Yes, it's called acid. You can't wipe a burn. :badboy:

It seems to me that the companies should adopt that style of paint, it just makes sense...

Even if it would add to the cost it would be ok. You already handed over $50 for a case, so whats 5 more haha

I seem to remember Zap (coulda been another company) making anti-wipe paint for balls. It worked greatl but refs had a hard time keeping track if hits were from the current game or previous game, so it never really caught on.

Two words - Zapp Chronic

yea, it wouldn't work because then you couldn't take it off from previous rounds and people would still find a way to cheat.:|

Haha. Acid, that would hurt. Maybe the stuff from fight club (was that acid). That double as another reason to keep yourself from getting hit. Fortunetly, I never had to experience a chemical burn, although I can't imagine that will last long 'cause I'm spending a lot of time around undiluted acid these days anyway. On to the real issue...
Some paints do have heavier fills, but like said that presents the problem of identifying paint from current/previous games. It seems a type of paint that dissovled after a certain amount of time exposed to air would work, if such a paint could be found. Probably be pretty expensive though. At real games (non-rec) it seems like you could change color paint every round, although that would be a little expensive and annoying unless the field supplied the paint...alright...I've got to do some homework before I fall asleep...

It seems like the heavier paint could be cleaned off with water between rounds... Thats what I would do

Heh ya, sending a few bonus balls towards a wiper is something everyone should do

The thickest paint I have used is ZAP-Spank. It dries like a wax and you cannot wipe it off because it will just set in bettert. The only way to get it out would be to put it in a washer.

As mentioned above, the ZAP "Advantage" series of paint featured an anti-wipe compound.

I've played AND reffed games that used the Advantage-type paint.

The good news is it does prevent wipes. It has a chemical that turns to paste when in comes in contact with air.
So, when it hits someone, there is no easy way to wipe it off. Instead, it spreads around, and looks worse.

But... it also made it harder to ref because players would walk on the field with old hits STILL ON THEM.
The solution we had was to carry clipboards with diagrams to represent each player. At the chrono station, the head ref would mark of where old hits were on the clipboard so that he doesnt call them again by acciden.

More bad news: If you broke a ball, it was nearly impossible to shoot through. It would totally gunk up the gun.

So.. it did work, but this was back in the woods tournament days when reffing was much harder. With small modern fields, a better method is just to hit someone 5-10 times... to make sure..

Ever try Polar Ice? That stuff comes in bright neon colors and is very thick, so it's hard to wipe off. But it's ment for winter, so.....

Another "anti-wipe" paint that comes to mind is the old Cal-Mag Metalic paint.

THIS IS THE WORST PAINT EVER MADE IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE.

The shell was clear, and the fill was clear, but it had tiny metallic particles suspeded.

The idea was that you might be able to wipe the liquid, but the metal particles would stick to your clothing and be impossible to wipe off.

But it was also impossible to see, and the fill reminded me of the stuff that comes out of my nose when I have a cold.

It was such a HUGE flop for cal-mag that it put them out of business.... (or, technically, the drug company that made it left the paintball business).

None of you thought of the obvious?

Paint that turns clear when a certain chemical is introduced to it. Example: 1.Walk on the field clean 2.get shot 3.walk off the field 4.ref sprays your paint spots with chemical 5.walk on the field clean 6.Repeat steps 2-6.

Easy solution to a simple problem. Oh and if anyone would like to patent this marvelous idea, feel free.

Yeah sure. As soon as I get $1,000,000 to buy a paintball factory. And I'm getting the feeling that you don't think it's a good idea, please explain your reasoning behind this.

i cna barely wipe off fresh regular chronic when i walk off my field
just fyi use regular chronic for recball cause refs usually get pissy if you use ultra (or at least at my field) since it staines a little if it is left on and cakes.

I'm selling the cookies. Someone really should suggest that to a paintball company though. Then we all watch on in horror as a newb suggests it to Brass Eagle.

You realize that that would be horrifically expensive to buy, right? And then they'd hit us for their "secret compound" that removes the color?

But the best paint I found was RecSport (do they even make that anymore?). Thick fill, medium shell, and there are still white marks on the driveway from one year ago  (it was yellow to begin with...)
