Yesterday I got some pretty ugly looking scratches on my main body because of one of the tanks it rubbed up against. Today I took some sandpaper and sanded a very small area on the feed tube to test what the sanding will do to the body. The sandpaper took off the sandblasted covering but then gut very shiny, and when I took a Dremel Tool to the area it became as chiny as a chrome body.
What I want to know is, is this a good idea to do this to my entire mainbody? Or is there any way to get the scratches off.

actually, im not 100% sure on this, but i think what you did is how you are supposed to polish an automag, so i dont think it would hurt. I may be wrong tho...

Well I actually polished the power tube and it looks really good. But it took a long time to give it a chrome mirror polish so I just did the feed tube. The rest of the body I sanded lightly and it really looks cool. I think this is one of the best things I've done to my gun.

I think this is what creek did to his gun, and it still looks fine, so it can't be that bad.

They sell polished bodies. If you like the looks, go 4 it! It won't affect performance.
See an example here:

I swear paintball stores will sell some items for like 500% more than other palces but sell another4 thing for like 1/2 of anyone else. It's crazy

Try my local pro shop. A M98 is $200 w/o the hopper that comes in the box!!! The owner pulls out the hopper and then sells it to you for another $5!
On the other hand I got my black Shocktech DF there for $35!?

I use a combination of 300 grit sandpaper, rubbing compound and polishing compound to get sratches out of my SS barrels. For tiny scratches, the 300 grit sandpaper is not needed. I always used them in a circular motion (I twist the barrel and hold the rag/sandpaper around it). The sandpaper comes first, then the rubbing compound, then I use the polishing compound to finish it off. For the mirror finish, you really need to use a polish...silver polish will restore that mirror finish. Realize that it is a long and tedious process though....I ususally spend an hour a piece doing my barrels...but then again, I am a perfectionist. It looks awesome when they are done too.
